Opening
The meeting of The Medicine Hat Royal Canadian Air Cadets #15 Squadron was called
to order at 6.30 pm at by Tara Pollard

SSC Chair’s Report

• Effective Speaking Competition
o Local workshop – Feb 11th- Dave Pollard will be training
o Local competition- 25th Feb
o 2 judges have been confirmed, and 1 tentatively booked
o Speech topics will be posted tonight on Facebook
• New League Advisor for our unit is Darlene Laroche. She will attend our AGM

CO’s Report
• Cadet activities are limited to a radius of 50 km from the Armoury.
• Military is planning for a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Air Force
Senior cadets may receive an invitation to attend.
• Joint unit (Air,Sea,Army) sports day was held on the weekend of Feb 3rd
o Minor injury happened to one Cadet during weekend event
• Cadet Summer Camp - no concrete information released yet
• Process for planning activities - CO needs a plan and a senior cadet is in charge
of planning the event (i.e. Tigers game)
• Mr. Gunn has been fully vetted
• Looking to fill two more staff positions.

New Business
• Suggestions made to CO for different ideas to do with Cadets (YMCA Night,
Bowling, Rock Climbing, Geo caching)
Financial Report
• Account balances as of Feb 5th 24
o General account: $63403.53
o Casino account: $19529.19
• We have 8 months to spend the casino funds as it is restrictive
• Spring FTX will be sponsored by the SSC.
• ACC9 has been
submitted
• Next is charity filing

Fundraising Update
-Deerview Meats Fundraiser (headed by Brandi)
• 60% goes to Deer View meet and 40 % goes to Air Cadet
• 2 weeks to sell. Turnaround time is usually a month

*Aide’s cadet won the draw for canteen for this month
