Positive Superlative adjectives

Rule # Spelling rule Example


1 En general, a todos los adjetivos se les tall  tallest
agrega +est. short  shortest
smart  smartest
2 Si el adjetivo termina en “e”, se agrega nice  nicest
+st. safe  safest
large  largest
3 Si el adjetivo termina en “consonante + big  biggest
vocal + consonante”, se dobla la última wet  wettest
consonante y se agrega +est. flat  flattest
4 si el adjetivo termina en “consonante + easy  easiest
y”, se bota la “y” y se agrega +iest. funny  funniest
pretty  prettiest
5 A los adjetivos de 3 ó más sílabas, se les beautiful  the most beautiful
antepone “the most”. intelligent  the most intelligent
comfortable  the most comfortable

6 Existen superlativos irregulares como: good  best / bad  worst

*Para hacer un adjetivo superlativo negativo, se le antepone “the least” (el menos) al
adjetivo. Ejemplo: The least safe  El menos seguro
