WHICH STREAMING SERVICE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Netflix and Disney Hotstar are online streaming platforms that have been in great
demand by many people since the Covid-19 pandemic. But actually, Netflix has been around
earlier than Disney Hotstar. There are certainly comparisons between the two, because each
platform has a different character.

Netflix has been around since 1970 with a general cassette rental format. In 2007-2012
it began to turn into an online streaming platform. In 2013, Netflix began to aggressively build
programs and release its own films. Until finally in 2018, Netflix intensively expanded into
international markets. Currently, there are 221.8 million people who subscribe to Netflix.
Meanwhile the Disney Hotstar Platform, which also comes from the United States, only went
live on November 12 2019. However, as of early January 2022, the number of users has
exceeded 129 .8 million. Based on users, it can be concluded that Netflix has more users than
DisneyHotstar, but in terms of development, DisneyHotstar is the fastest than Netflix.

One of the things to consider when choosing a streaming service is the large number of
viewing options. If you compare it at a glance, Netflix has a larger collection of films than
DisneyHostar. Since Netflix has been operating since January 2016, there are around 6,131
films in its database. Far from Disney+, which only appeared in September 2020 and only has
1,052 films.

faster than DisneyHotstar. During 2021 Netflix released 277 new film titles on its platform.
This is different from Disney+ which only releases 70 new film titles. Sometimes, choosing a
film streaming platform is not just a matter of having a lot of films. Especially if you want a
streaming subscription for a crowd. Of course there are other things to consider, film ratings
according to age for example. According to research, most of the viewing on Netflix is aimed
at young adults and adults. That's why the duration of the films on Netflix is also relatively
long, namely more than an hour. Netflix is more popular among adults than children.

On Disney+, most of the films are aimed at children. In fact, 55.5% of the films are
aimed at audiences 0-6 years old. That's probably why the duration of films on Disney+ is more
diverse. Starting from less than 25 minutes to more than an hour. With a subscription fee of
IDR 156,000 per month, you will pay approximately IDR 1,418 to watch one film. So, if
Disney+ costs IDR 39,000 per month, you spend IDR 1,950 to watch one film. Netflix is more
expensive than DisneyHotstar, because the duration and number of film collections is
greater.
 The conclusion is that Netflix is suitable for those of you who like lots of choices for
watching films. Especially because Netflix is very diligent in updating and releasing new
films. This number of films compared to the subscription price is worth it. Disney+ is suitable
for those of you who don't really mind the number of films on the platform. Then, Disney+ will
also be suitable for those of you who have family members who are still children. In terms of
price, the cost of a Disney+ subscription is still very affordable.
