We are living in a post-modern era where truth is subjective.

We have seen
dictatorship and rule of oppression in every time of human history. In
contemporary times, many parts of the world are being ruled by dictators. It
seems strange how can people allow dictators to rule them in the 21 st century. On
the other side, how dictators manipulate citizens will to accept their rule. Why do
dictators proceed with the elections? Here, we will explore some deep and
insightful factors dictators use to legitimize their government.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Oddly enough, elections
are frequently held in dictatorships despite their authoritarian tendencies. The
reasoning behind this phenomenon varies and is based on political views.

Illusive display of Legitimacy:

Holding elections enables dictators to preserve an authoritarian legitimacy both
domestically and internationally, particularly in the 21st century, when global
relations require fair and free competitive elections.

Long-term Control and Stability:

Elections provide long-term benefits to dictatorial regimes by suppressing
opposition members through authoritative mechanics.

Short-term risk and instability:

Elections provide short-term hazards to dictators, as they can lead to anti-
dictatorial rallies, planned opposition actions, and even government dissolution,
especially around and immediately after the election.

Authoritarian Learning and Adaptation:

Dictators have been learning how to conduct and manipulate elections in a way
that keeps them in power without facing real opposition. This is the result of a
gradual process of authoritarian learning. We have seen an example of the rules
of Joseph Stalin, and Saddam Hussein.

long Dictatorial power game, short-term risks, and strategic legitimacy all play a
critical role in a dictator's decision to organize elections. so, it is clear that
elections are not the reflection of democracy but, it lead to further consolidation
of powers that ultimately cause further destruction of democratic institutes.
