ABSTRACT
The paper provides a meticulous examination of the impact of COVID-19 on increasing the cost of labor and
project prices in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The ongoing pandemic has led to an unprecedented crisis
that has wreaked havoc on the UAE's economic sector and labor market. For instance, measures such as total
or partial lockdown have resulted in the closing down of companies that has caused job losses to various
people. The research gathered scholarly resources of different scholars, giving their accounts concerning how
the COVID-19 pandemic has grossly affected the economic sector and labor costs in the United Arab Emirates
(UAE). The study used purposive sampling techniques to explore the factors contributing to the increase in the
cost of labor and project prices. The purposive sampling technique's primary aim was to determine how the
elements were affected and their impact on the economy of the UAE. Also, random online interviews were
utilized to demystify the effects of COVID-19 on the UAE's working and non-working citizens.
The research found that most businesses have remained shut while the few operating ones have employed
flexible working schemes such as working from home and reducing employees' numbers. However, the
research had certain limitations. Foremost, it was limited to business organizations and construction projects
selected. Besides, the provided information was brief and undetailed. From conducting the research, it is
needful for the researcher to use a qualitative research method for the study in the future. The technique will
provide detailed information concerning the contractors' and entrepreneurs' perceptions of the impacts of
COVID-19 on the economic sector.
