Reflection

The movie “Life of Pi” is about a young boy getting stranded on a lifeboat because the
ship sank. Supposedly they were going to immigrate to Canada along with his family because of
lack of stability in India. Unfortunately due to a storm, the ship overturned and his family got
dragged with it, leaving him alone on a lifeboat with a tiger named Richard Parker. Because of
being alone, he decides to let the tiger stay not thinking about what would happen to him. The
movie explores the ideas of self-perception, man vs nature, finding life’s purpose, and searching
for faith in oneself. After watching the movie, I was in awe because of the movie’s beauty and
depth. The relationship between man and the tiger, was a symbol of hope for Pi to push forward.
I felt the emotions of Pi in every moment of his despair, wonder, and hope. There were also
questions in myself, what could’ve happened to me if I was in his place? Would I survive just
like him? Or did I even surrender without doing something?

The story influenced viewers to reflect on themselves, it encouraged contemplation about

having strong faith and search the meaning of life. Finding beauty in all things and having hope
in every moment of change. It reflected on the audiences as they struggled with their challenges
and uncertainties in life. The movie resonates with self-improvement, as Pi showed that despite
his fear and despair he still sought to find hope to live and struggled to find a way to change his
destiny. Not only looking for affirmation outside that everything will be okay but also seeking it
within oneself. Appreciating that no matter the weakness one may or may not have, there can
still be change if you choose to do so. You don’t have to limit yourself to things beyond your
control, choose what works for you. The film shows the importance of perseverance and
willingness to confront challenges as essential elements for personal development.

“Life of Pi” displays important lessons for us, it revolves around three things which are to
understand the power faith can give, the human spirit's capacity for change, and the acceptance
of life’s uncertainties. Don’t view the world as a horrible place because of the unfortunate things
that came your way but rather think of life as an adventure. It is yours to explore and every
moment of your life is your own discovery for you. Just like Pi, there were moments when I felt
there was no need to look forward, I would just accept everything as it is. However, when the
worst moments came into my life I realized that I was alone. The only person who could help me
was myself. Pi’s journey reflected on me because I also sought change, I want to live just like
anyone else. I don’t want to let myself suffer just because of those hard moments. I’m still
looking forward to what my future will be, and what will be the good things that will happen if I
choose to live today. Now, I’m embracing life with courage despite the uncertainties and
curiosity. Pi’s journey serves as a reminder that there is hope, future, and change in everything if
we choose to believe in ourselves and have faith in everything.
