Ladakh Winter Ice Climbing

Ice climbing is now a vital part of any alpine climber's skill sets and is also an incredibly
rewarding pursuit.
Whether you are a budding ice climber OR an alpine climber wanting to hone your skills for
big climbs, this 8 day course will help you build confidence to move on steep ice. The
training focuses on Water Ice Climbing, where we use crampons and ice tools to climb
frozen waterfalls.
Conducted in the vicinity of Leh, we have 5 full days of outdoor training in the field and some
theoretical sessions. We will stay in a comfortable, cosy and warm hotel, where we can
recover well after a hard, cold day of climbing.
Day time temperatures could go down to -15 deg C.

Grade - Beginner to Intermediate

To get the most out of this course, you should have some experience of rock climbing.

Itinerary

02 Feb - Day 01: Arrive Leh (3500m)

 ● Take morning flight
● Reach before 900 am
● Transfer to hotel
● Rest & acclimatise
● In the evening you meet the guides and have an overall course orientation session.
● Gear Check & Equipment fitting
● Last minute purchase if any can be done in the Leh market.
● Overnight at hotel

03 Feb - Day 02: Field Day - Training at the Ice Crag (3500m)
● Time to get ready for field work
● Pack - extra hand gloves & socks, personal food & medicines, warm jacket, and
water bottles.
● Don't forget to carry camera
● It's gonna be hectic day, take heavy breakfast
● Evening we will comeback - Hot dinner
● Overnight at hotel

04 Feb - Day 03: Field Day - Training at the Ice Crag (3500m)
● Time to get ready for field work
● Pack - extra hand gloves & socks, personal food & medicines, warm jacket, and
water bottles.
● Don't forget to carry camera
● It's gonna be hectic day, take heavy breakfast
● Evening we will comeback - Hot dinner
● Overnight at hotel

05 Feb - Day 04: Field Day - Training at the Ice Crag (3500m)
● Time to get ready for field work
● Pack - extra hand gloves & socks, personal food & medicines, warm jacket, and
water bottles.
● Don't forget to carry camera
● It's gonna be hectic day, take heavy breakfast
● Today we have time to do shopping
● Evening we will comeback - Hot dinner
● Overnight at hotel

06 Feb - Day 05: Fly back home

● After breakfast, we will drop you at the Leh airport in time to board your flight back
home. Course ends!

Workshop Cost - INR 35,700.00

TRIP COST INCLUDES

● Airport arrival & departure transfers in Leh

● Accommodation for 4 nights at a comfortable hotel in Leh with heating in the rooms
● All meals (breakfast & dinner at the hotel) & pack lunches in the training area
● Transport to get to the training area & back
● Technical group equipment like ropes, anchors etc
● Professional instructor's fee (Participant to Instructor Ratio 1:3)

TRIP COST EXCLUDES

● Any airfare.
● Items of personal clothing and personal climbing equipment (can be rented)
(Climbing Shoes)
● Expenses of a personal nature like insurance, beverages and snacks in Leh, any
sightseeing etc
● Any costs arising out of unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, landslides,
road blocks etc

CANCELLATION TERMS

If it becomes necessary to cancel your trip, you must notify the office immediately in writing.
The following terms would be applicable.

• Less than 35 days prior to departure - 35% of the Trip Cost as the cancellation charges and
we will refund the balance.
• Less than 25 days prior to departure - 70% of the Trip Cost as cancellation charges and we
will refund the balance.
• Less than 15 days - the entire amount would be forfeited.

The tour price is quoted as a package. No partial refunds or credit will be given for services
not used. We recommend that you obtain cancellation travel insurance upon booking. If you
can replace your spot by getting someone else to take that seat, cancellation charges would
be waived completely
