InFlavour Trade Mission – Saudi Arabia: Programme

UK Pavilion at InFlavour 29-31st October (Sunday-Tuesday) 2023

Saturday, 28 October
Arrive Riyadh Arrive on Saturday 28th October in Riyadh

Optional day/evening activities:


1) Attend a Celebration of Saudi and hear about Saudi culture and heritage
through food. This will take place from 7pm-9.30pm on the 2nd floor of
Najd Village in the north - see google link (please ensure you go to the
correct destination as there are three). To attend please confirm to
Saba.Said@fcdo.gov.uk by 22nd October with your name and any
Najd Village restaurant information regarding dietary requirements.

2) Feel free to visit the Riyadh Season, Nakhil mall or Riyadh Gallery
Sunday, 29 October
8.20am Meet Saba at Radison Blue Qurtuba Cordoba lobby. It is important you arrive
promptly to ensure you do not miss transport.

8.30am Transport to Lulu Hypermarkets.

9am – 10.30am Store visit followed by introductions and a roundtable with Lulu’s Procurement
team.

10.30am – 11.30am Transport to RECC, Malham – InFlavour Venue

11.30am – 12pm Arrive the venue; UK Pavilion H1 G20. Set up display on Pavilion/ pods.

12pm- 12.20pm Q&A with Informa and Newbridge: making the most of InFlavour and
Matchmaking activity – 20 Minutes discussion and walkthrough.

12.30pm – 1.15pm  Stand Inauguration by Peter Ashby, Country Director at the British Embassy
in Riyadh. Discussion on ‘Saudi Vision 2030,’ economic and social changes
in KSA (Coordinated by Saba Said)
 Photo call
 Walk through by Saudi Ministry of Water and Agriculture Deputy Minister
(TBC)

1.30m – 2pm  Q&A with Chris Lester, Cool Inc (operating VIA Riyadh) and Idris from Gulf
West (leading Distributor in KSA) on opportunities in the HORECA and
hospitality segment .
 Opportunity for 1:1 discussions following Q&A

2pm – 2.30pm Presentation by Yazan Shukair, Head of Consulting at AEI on the Saudi market
and common pitfalls.

Monday, 30 October
8.30am Meet Saba at Radison Blue Qurtuba Cordoba lobby. It is important you arrive
promptly to ensure you do not miss transport.
Transport to store visits.

9.30am – 10.30am Tamimi Store visit and roundtable with Tamimi Procurement team.
10.30am – 11.30am Transport to RECC – InFlavour venue.

12pm – 12.30pm Introduction and discussion with a senior representative from Gulf Central – a
key distributer to retail, HORECA and dark stores, including Delivery Hero/
Hungerstation.

12.30pm – 1pm Meeting with the Siwar Group – a leading distributer for RTE products in Saudi
Arabia.

1pm – 1:30pm - Discussion on market access regulations and setting up operations in Saudi
– SFDA and Ministry of Industry. Joint session (TBC) OR Meeting with
Market access team on registration process

1.30pm – 2pm Free

by – Fatima Abdulkader, BE Riyadh.

One British Embassy representative will stay at the stand


8pm – 10:30pm ‘Taste of the UK’ networking reception

- Opening remarks and Welcome – His Majesty’s Ambassador to the


Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Neil Crompton
- Scottish salmon sushi demo – supported by Nozomi
- Demo by Saudi female chef using UK ingredients

Attendees will include Saudi influencers and decision makers in procurement in


grocery retail, buyers, distributors to hospitality and dark stores, Saudi
importers, experts, hospitality/ foodservice sector, procurement heads,
Executive chefs of key hotel chains, HORECA and food service distributors.

10.30pm – 11pm Transport from British Embassy to Radisson Blu Qurtoba hotel

Tuesday, 31 October

9am Meet Saba at Radison Blue Qurtuba Cordoba lobby. It is important you arrive
promptly to ensure you do not miss transport.

Transport pick-up from hotel to Danube (TBC)


9.30am – 10.30am Store visit Danube Hypermarkets (TBC)

10.30am – 11.30am Transport to RECC


12.30pm – 1pm Meeting with Hungerstation, a grocery delivery app with 65% market share in
Saudi and growing. They will provide customer insights on fast moving
categories and go through their procurement process.
1pm – 1.30pm Discussion with Imtiaz Ahmed, AC NeilsonIQ on Saudi food sector trends.

1.30pm – 2pm Feedback and follow up support – discussion with Saba Said, Food and Drink
Sector Lead, British Embassy Riyadh.
