8.1.4 Survey setting out for Test Pile Location

Survey Coordinates shall be verified and pile location shall be inspected.

Survey report shall be submitted to the contractor/ client after the inspection was
carried out.

8.1.5 Pile Installation

The verticality of tubular steel pipe pile can be monitored automatically by the
rig inclinometer and will be cross-checked by a spirit-level each way.
And also, theodolites shall be used to observe the perpendicularity of the pile.
The tubular Steel pipe shall be inserted by vibratory hammer/ Hydraulic Impact
Hammer supporting by Rig/ Crane into the designated location & required depth
by the supporting of barge.
Pile Top level shall be checked by Surveyor and Ensure Pile Top Head is on
required level as per Approved IFC Drawing. Report shall be submitted to
contractor which the data includes pile Toe/verticality and Top level.
Soil and debris inside the Tubular steel pipe are carried out to ground by airlift
method by rotary auger screw to getting required depth and diameter of hole.
Unless will use the bucket type to remove the soil.
8.1.6 Pile Hole Cleaning

Option 1
The Bucket screw bit shall be used to clean loose & waste material in the bottom
of bore hole. Which therefore transports the soil through bucket screw bit.
The depth will be measured by suitable weighted band tape and ensure depth is
reached to design required level as per IFC drawing.
Option 2
When The depth is reached to the pile’s design level, will use reverse circulation
air lifting to clear loose & waste material in the bottom of bore hole. The screw bit

which is attached with auger rotary method.

The air lifting method will inducing compressed air into the lower end of auger
screw bit, the expanding air creates an upward flow, which therefore transports to
the soil through auger screw to the top of the ground while removing (pulling up)
the auger screw after completing drilling/cleaning.
8.1.7 Pile Hole Depth measurement

The Top level of Tubular Steel pipe shall be checked as known the length of the
tubular steel pipe and the depth shall be measured by suitable weighted band
tape from the existing top of tubular steel pipe to bottom of the bore hole. Ensure
the depth is reached to design required level as per approved latest IFC drawing.

8.1.8 Lifting the rebar cage

The reinforcement cage (such as needed additional stirrup rings & thick tie wire
for hook point) should consider subsequent lifting operation and installation of the
reinforcement cage prior to safe lift.

Reinforcement cage shall be inspected for any damaged epoxy coating & touched
up prior to installation.

The top of the rebar cage shall be lifted by main hook and middle portion
supported by auxiliary hook of the crawler crane to prevent the bending of cage.

Lifting plan shall have crane, load chart details and load calculation to verify safe
work load in response to crane capacity of load.

No load must be lifted without the following crucial information;

- The load weights

- The overall dimensions

- Radius & height which the load has to be followed

- The overall weight (load + all lifting accessories)

load calculation prior to obtaining the lifting work permit.

8.1.9 Installing the Rebar cage

The Steel cage shall be lowered down the tubular steel pile and suspended on the
tubular steel pipe to ensure the steel cage is installed at the correct level.
Surveyor shall be checked the top of the rebar level and ensure that on its
required level and shall keep the record.
8.1.10 Pouring Concrete

The Concrete transport ship and Concrete truck pump shall be beside the pile
location area.
Fresh concrete shall be tested in compliance with project requirements and
standards.
Concreting work shall be commenced as soon as possible after placing steel cage
in the tubular steel pipe. Concrete is poured into the bored hole through tremie
pipes. The tremie pipes are 150mm to 270mm diameter and are made up to the
required length at the start, the tip of tremie pipe from the pump car shall be
lowered to 30~50 cm above of the bottom of pile and concrete shall be pumped
through the tremie pipe. Ensure the bottom of termite is maintained below the
level of concrete 2~4m at all times during placing and should be place enough
concrete into tremie to prevent flow of slurry into it.
Concrete pouring will continue until uncontaminated concrete overflows from top
of the casing pipe.
Concrete pouring will continue up to at least 1m above the cut off level.
During concreting, a log is kept of delivery times, volumes and concrete levels.
Concrete cubes or cylinders are taken to assess the concrete strength
After the concrete pour the top of fresh concrete, shall be protected from the

8.2.1 Type of Tests.

 Pile Integrity Test.

The test should be in accordance ASTM D5882 Standard Test Method. The
purpose of integrity testing is to identify acoustic anomalies in piles that could
have a structural significance with regard to the performance and durability of the
pile. Integrity tests do not give direct information about the performance of piles
under structural loads.
