B. Concurrent Requirements
(1) Additional service documents may apply to the components/propellers
affected by this Service Letter. Compliance with additional service documents
may be necessary in conjunction with the completion of the Accomplishment
Instructions in this Service Letter. Refer to the Hartzell Propeller Inc. website at
www.hartzellprop.com for a cross-reference of service documents.
C. Reason
(1) Hartzell Propeller Inc. has recieved reports of stripped threads on the low pitch
stop screw in the propeller models affected by this Service Letter.
(2) The B-2428-2 cylinder and the A-4257 low pitch stop screw are being
introduced to prevent the threads from stripping.
(3) Regulatory action is not expected.

D. Description
(1) This document provides Additional Maintenance Information (AMI).
(2) This Service Letter introduces the B-2428-2 cylinder, A-4257 low pitch stop
screw, and the associated hardware as alternate components for the affected
propeller models.
(3) The B-2428-2 cylinder is designed to accept the 5/8 inch A-4257 low pitch stop
screw. The larger screw is a design improvement to prevent stripped threads
that have occurred on the 3/8 inch A-4252 low pitch stop screw used previously.
(4) New propeller assemblies will begin shipping from Hartzell Propeller Inc. with
the B-2428-2 cylinder and A-4257 low pitch stop screw design.
(5) As inventory of the B-2428-1 cylinder is depleted, Hartzell Propeller Inc. will
replace orders for the B-2428-1 cylinder with the B-2428-2 cylinder.
(a) When ordering a new cylinder, the size of the low pitch stop screw, nut,
and washer must match the cylinder design.
E. Compliance
(1) When replacement of the cylinder is required, install a new or serviceable
cylinder (B-2428-1 or B-2428-2) and the associated hardware in accordance
with the Accomplishment Instructions in this Service Letter. Refer to the
Materials section of this Service Letter for the required parts.
F. Approval
(1) This technical document is approved by Hartzell Propeller Inc.

3. Accomplishment Instructions
A. Disassembly, inspection, and assembly of the propeller and propeller hub must
be performed by a propeller service facility licensed by a governmental regulatory
agency, e.g., FAA, EASA, CAA.
B. Disassembly
(1) Remove the low pitch stop screw and the cylinder in accordance with Hartzell
Propeller Inc. Compact and Lightweight Compact Non-Feathering (-1) and
Aerobatic (-4) Propeller Overhaul and Maintenance Manual 113B
(61-10-13).
C. Inspection Requirements
(1) Visually and dimensionally inspect the cylinder and the low pitch stop screw
in accordance with the Check chapter of Hartzell Propeller Inc. Compact and
Lightweight Compact Non-Feathering (-1) and Aerobatic (-4) Propeller Overhaul
and Maintenance Manual 113B (61-10-13).
D. Assembly
(1) Assemble the cylinder, the low pitch stop screw, and the associated hardware
in accordance with Hartzell Propeller Inc. Compact and Lightweight Compact
Non-Feathering (-1) and Aerobatic (-4) Propeller Overhaul and Maintenance
Manual 113B (61-10-13).
E. Make an entry in the propeller logbook indicating compliance with this Service Letter.
