1. Planning Information
A. Effectivity
(1) Hartzell Propeller Inc. S-1-44F governors installed on Cirrus SR22T aircraft are
affected by this Service Letter.

ALL INSPECTIONS OR WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MOST
RECENT REVISION OF THIS SERVICE LETTER. INFORMATION
CONTAINED IN THIS SERVICE LETTER MAY BE SIGNIFICANTLY
CHANGED FROM EARLIER REVISIONS. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH
THIS SERVICE LETTER OR THE USE OF OBSOLETE INFORMATION
MAY CREATE AN UNSAFE CONDITION THAT MAY RESULT IN DEATH,
SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND/OR SUBSTANTIAL PROPERTY
DAMAGE. REFER TO THE SERVICE LETTER INDEX FOR THE MOST
RECENT REVISION LEVEL OF THIS SERVICE LETTER.
B. Concurrent Requirements
(1) Additional service documents may apply to the components/propellers
affected by this Service Letter. Compliance with additional service documents
may be necessary in conjunction with the completion of the Accomplishment
Instructions in this Service Letter. Refer to the Hartzell Propeller Inc. website at
www.hartzellprop.com for a cross-reference of service documents.
C. Reason
(1) Hartzell Propeller Inc. has received reports of leaks on S-1-44F governors.
(2) A seal washer and washer are installed on the high RPM adjust screw to
prevent oil leakage aroung the RPM adjust screw.
(3) After investigation, Hartzell Propeller Inc. found that when the seal washer and
washer were installed, the washer was not installed with the countersink side
against the seal washer.
(4) This configuration may or may not permit the governor to leak.
(5) Regulatory action is not expected.
D. Description
(1) This document provides Additional Maintenance Instruction (AMI).
(2) This Service Letter clarifies the correct installation configuration for the seal
washer and washer.

E. Compliance
(1) If an S-1-44F governor is leaking from the high RPM adjust screw, perform
the assembly and disassembly instructions specified in the Accomplishment
Instructions of this Service Letter.
(2) If the nut on the high RPM adjust screw is removed from an S-1-44F governor,
assemble the governor in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions in
this Service Letter.
F. Approval
(1) FAA approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that
affects type design.
G. Manpower
(1) Approximately 1 man hour is required to disassemble, assemble, and test the
governor.
(2) Approximately 1 man hour is required for removal and installation of the
governor on the engine.

3. Accomplishment Instructions
A. Remove the governor from the engine in accordance with the Hartzell Propeller Inc.
Owner's Manual 115N (61-00-15), Hartzell Propeller Inc. Service Letter
HC-SL-61-277, or the Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
B. Governor diasssembly, reassembly, and testing must be performed by a certified
governor overhaul facility with the necessary equipment to test the governor.
C. Governor Disassembly
(1) Remove and discard the B-3808-5 nut, B-6330 washer, and the 103669 seal
washer from the high RPM adjust screw.
(2) Further disassembly is not required if the governor is leaking around the high
RPM adjust screw.
D. Governor Assembly
(1) Install a new 103669 seal washer on the high RPM adjust screw.
(2) With the countersink side facing the seal washer, install the new B-3660 washer
on the high RPM adjust screw.
(3) Install the new B-3808-5 nut and set the high RPM in accordance with Hartzell
Propeller Inc. Hydro-Mechanical Governor Maintenance Manual 130B
(61-23-30)
E. Install the governor on the engine in accordance with the Hartzell Propeller Inc.
Owner's Manual 115N (61-00-15), Hartzell Propeller Inc. Service Letter
HC-SL-61-277, or the Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
F. Indicate compliance with this Service Letter in propeller logbook.
G. Recommended Service Facilities
(1) Hartzell Propeller Inc. has a worldwide network of Recommended Service
Facilities that are recommended by Hartzell Propeller Inc. for overhaul and
repair of our products.
(2) Each service facility must meet standard FAA requirements and additional
Hartzell Propeller Inc. requirements before being recommended by Hartzell
Propeller Inc. Each service facility is audited by Hartzell Propeller Inc. to verify
the continuation of the standards.
(3) Hartzell Propeller Inc. recommends that you use one of these service facilities
when having your propeller or governor overhauled or repaired.
