“Development of a Cross-Platform Mobile

Application for Crime & Disaster Reporting”

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

This proposed study is to enhance the reporting methods, as well as the


outmoded evaluation processing of reports on crimes, and disasters in
Cagayan de Oro City through the develop a Cross-Platform Mobile
Application for Crime and Disaster Reporting.
THE PROBLEM
✔ The needed effort to go to any police, especially when reporters, and
witnesses of incidents do not have a direct relationship to the person/s
being involved.

✔ The reporter does not have access to station’s hotline number.

✔ The fear of the reporter’s safety if ever the suspect recognizes them.

✔ There will be a delay in response for the police because the location is
not clearly specified.

Tza-Farn Shih et al. (2019), “A Cloud-Based Crime
Reporting System with Identity Protection”, In the study, which
employed a cryptographic mechanism to improve security and
identity confidentiality among users. Not only does this ensure
the legitimacy of a user’s identity, but it also protects the
privacy and security.
2. FOREIGN STUDIES
Mwangala Mwiya et al. (2015), “Public Crime Reporting and
Monitoring System Model Using GSM and GIS”, This study,
endeavored to address the issue of numerous unreported crimes
and lack of efficient communication platform with a framework
comprising of two primary parts: 1) the portable application, the
front end; and 2) the Graphical User Interface (GUI), a backend
framework, which is utilized to screen and follow up on the
announced wrongdoing.

Ocay et al. (2016), “Android-Based Real-time Incident Reporting
App for PNP Urdaneta”, In the study it provided a feature that would
let the users send photos with the description and location of the
incident. One unique feature is upon witnessing an incident the user
shall open the application which will appear a notice message on
the best possible use of the application with its terms and conditions
to maintain a strategic distance from bogus reports.
2. LOCAL STUDIES
Fabio et al. (2015),“AppLERT: Mobile Application for
Incident and Disaster Notification for Metro Manila”, In which
the study encouraged the users to optimize the use of
multimodal information such as thru photos, with considerations
of the GPS tracking data, to effectively operate search and
rescue operations during disasters.
