MLC JOURNEY MANAGEMENT &

Reviewed and approved by:
Yannick Mouamba DRIVING LOCAL PROCEDURE - Trainee’s version Version A02 – Jul 2021

1. Statement and Objective

This procedure covers the journey management and driving requirements for the Middle East & Asia Learning
Center operation. The intent of this procedure is to complement the SLB Driving Policy and the Driving and
Journey Management Standard S001 by addressing the specific driving risks, regulations and requirements of this
Location.

2. Scope
All MLC’s employees, trainees, visitors and contractors are required to follow this Driving Procedure while in the
UAE.

3. General rules
 All business trips are to be compliant with SLB Driving Policy, OFS Standard S001 and MLC’s Journey
Management Plan. A trainee, visiting instructor or SLB visitor is said to be on a business trip or on-duty when
in attendance at MLC and/or when traveling to/from MLC. In addition, any travel using a SLB provided vehicle
is considered a business trip.
 Any trip beyond 65 kms from MLC requires an eJourney ticket, proper approval from Management and it
must be reported and monitored by GJMC (Global Journey Management Center).
 The use of phones while driving is strictly prohibited.
 Driver needs to adjust speed to conditions. Maximum speed limits allowed are:
 Light vehicles: 120 km/h
 Light buses: 100 km/h
 Heavy buses: 80 km/h
 Loose objects (luggage bags, laptops, airborne objects) are required to be stored in the trunk or storage
compartments and shall not be kept inside the passenger cabin.

4. Golden rules
 The use of 3 points seatbelts is a condition of employment. Seatbelts are to be used while on/off-duty and
never be unbuckled until the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
 Only SLB certified drivers and vehicles can be used to commute between Abu Dhabi and Dubai or to any
other location beyond 65 kms from MLC. MLC provides shuttle buses on specific routes, schedules and
timings and require passengers to previously register. More information about booking and schedules is to
be checked with the MLC Reception.
 Public transportation (metro, buses or taxis) can be used only for URBAN trips inside Abu Dhabi (or inside
Dubai). No taxi or bus is allowed to travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
 Trainees, visiting instructors and/or SLB employees based outside of UAE, are not allowed to drive their own
vehicles or rented cars when they are in MLC.
 Intervening any driving unsafe act is an obligation of each of us.

Each SLB employee and/or driver has to fully comply with this MLC Journey Management Local Plan; failure to
do so will result in strict disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
