JOB SUMMARY
The University of Lincoln, UK, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria, and Community Energy Social
Enterprise Ltd (CESEL), Nigeria, have secured a UK government international grant via the
African Agricultural Knowledge Transfer Partnership (AAKTP) scheme by Innovate UK. This
collaboration presents a unique opportunity for biodigester development and management aimed
at renewable biogas production. Consequently, a position for an AAKTP Associate has
become available to oversee and achieve the technical objectives of this partnership.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Associate will fabricate, install, and make operational, a biodigester for producing biogas
from poultry droppings and crop-stalks at a large poultry farm in Aikun, Osun State.
Approximately 3.5 tons of waste/month are available for this purpose, and the biogas will
provide heating for the farm's pens and hatchery. The aim is to make the business more
environmentally sustainable with the potential for significant impact on the reduction of energy
bills. The biodigester will be prototyped at Pan-Atlantic University, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, and
scaled-up at the farm’s site at Aikun in Osun State. It will be integrated with sensors for real-time
quality monitoring.

In return, the Associate will have access to a competitive pay package, world-class training
opportunities, and attend the KTP residential training course at Ashorne Hill, United Kingdom
(UK). There will also be a two-week long training on anaerobic digestion on the research biogas
plant at the School of Engineering, University of Lincoln (UoL) after the Ashorne Hill training.

The Associate will focus on issues around the day-to-day project implementation, including how
to deal with each of the project locations. The Associate will be required to manage the
relationship with the different poultry farms, strengthening ties with communities and mini grid
that the biogas plant is expected to feed into.
