REMOVING - REFITTING : MASTER CYLINDER

ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations .

1. Replacement of parts in all cases

Description Quantity
Master cylinder seal 1

2. Tooling
Workshop equipment : pipe spanner .

3. Removing
Disconnect the ancillaries battery.

N.B. : Protect the components under the master cylinder from brake fluid splashes.

CAUTION : Immediately clean any escaped brake fluid from painted surfaces.

Drain the brake fluid reservoir as completely as possible (if necessary, use a clean syringe).

Remove the ancillaries battery .

Move aside the engine fusebox .
Disconnect the brake fluid level connector (at "a").

Disconnect the brake pipe unions (1) ; Using a pipe spanner.

Remove :
The 2 nuts (4)
The master cylinder (5) and brake fluid reservoir assembly (2)
The seal
The bolt (3)

The master cylinder (5) brake fluid reservoir (2)

4. Refitting

CAUTION : Observe the braking system tightening torques .

Refit :
The brake fluid reservoir (2) on the master cylinder (5)
The bolt (3)
The seal (new)
The master cylinder (5) and brake fluid reservoir assembly (2)
The 2 nuts (4)

Connect the brake pipe connectors (1) ; Using a pipe spanner.

Reconnect the brake fluid level connector (at "a").
Refit :
The engine fuse box
The ancillaries battery

Fill the brake fluid reservoir .

Bleed the brake system (see the relevant operation).
Check the brake fluid level.

CAUTION : Perform the operations that are required following a reconnection of the ancillaries battery .

Reconnect the ancillaries battery.
