ABOUT EXAMVIEW®
Look: ExamView® Assessment is an effective, flexible assessment tool that allows teachers to customize their tests.
Teachers can create tests for specific topics, specific lessons or units or a selection of lessons, or even an entire level
by choosing questions from the test banks.
Also, many students need experience and practice taking standardized tests. The questions in Look: ExamView®
Assessment resemble the standardized test items that students will be exposed to in their educational careers. By
first administering an ExamView® test some time before the standardized test is given, teachers may better prepare
their students for the standardized test format.
FIELD LABELS
Question type This field allows the teacher to choose questions by their format. For example, true/false,
multiple choice, match, and completion.
Reference This field contains the level and unit which the test item relates to.
(REF)
Topic (TOP) Topics indicate exactly what is being tested. For example, Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening,
Speaking, Phonics, Functions, Writing, or Reading.
The fields above allow teachers to customize quizzes or tests to match their teaching styles and instructional
objectives. Teachers can let the ExamView® program choose a certain number of questions with a variety of question
types by using QuickTest Wizard, or they can choose specific reference and topic question types by selecting
questions corresponding to these two criteria in the relevant fields using the ExamView® Test Builder.
The tests created by the teacher can be saved on a computer and used repeatedly, or teachers may choose a
combination of new and different criteria to create new tests. Additionally, the possible responses to multiple-choice
tests can be scrambled. An answer key for all selected questions is automatically generated each time for the teacher’s
use. Once the teacher has installed the installer, the ExamView® audio will appear in the Tests folder.
As well as the banks, also included is a set of 15 pre-generated sample tests, each containing all the questions from
its source bank (12 units and the three cumulative banks) to be used as a complete self-contained test or to be
edited or shortened as desired.
More information on how to build tests from the banks can be found in the quick start guide “How to create a test in
ExamView.pdf”.
If students are being tested via a local area network rather than using printed tests, they will need to install the
ExamView Player using Setup.exe (PC) or ExamView Installer.pkg (Mac) inside the “EVPlayer” folder.
