7. LOAD TEST READING AND GRAPHS

1.0 INTRODUCTION:
The Load Test Procedure followed, data recorded and analysis
performed, as Required To Conduct Load Test and analysis is
to be performed On Existing Bored Cast -In-Situ pile for
proposed Construction.

1.1 The test was conducted as per IS:2911 (part-4) -2013,

specification and General Engineering practices, onward to
conduct Load test in compression on Bored Cast-in-situ pile to
Confirm the safe load bearing capacity.

1.2 The proposed Test Pile is 1200 mm Dia. and depth 18.00 Mtr.
has already been constructed and Test was proposed to be
conducted up to Design load 343 x 1.5 = 514.50 MT load in
compression Vertical.

2.0 LOCATION:
The Pile Load Test Is Proposed At CH: 394+000, FLYOVER
THALIKULAM - KODUNGALLUR, Kerala.

3.0 SCOPE OF WORK:

To Conduct the Pile Load test in compression on Bored

Cast-in situ RCC pile as per IS code of practice IS: 2911
Part-4 2013 to determent settlement under working load of
pile confirm the safe load of pile for safe load bearing
capacity in Vertical compression.
4.0 PROCEDURE FOR COMPRESSION TEST:

4.1 TEST ARRANGEMENT:-

Load shall be provided by Hydraulic Jack inserted between

Test Pile and R.S. Joist which shall be held down by anchor
piles attached with ISMB as detailed on anchor pile design
calculation sheet, loading setup, design calculations, plan and
sectional elevations for test is submitted as earlier.

4.2 WORKING LOAD TEST MAINTAINED METHOD:-

I. Load test shall be carried out after achieving
acceptable/required strength of concrete.
II. Test load on pile 514.50 MT. ON WORKING PILE
III. The test load may be applied by means of a hydraulic jack
against rolled steel joist.
IV. The test should be carried out by applying a series of
incremental load each increment being of about 20 percent
of safe load on the pile. The application of increment test
load and taking of measurement or displacement in each
stage of loading is maintained till rate of settlement of is
either 0.1 mm in first 30 minutes or 0.2 mm in first one
hour or till 2 hour whichever occur first.
V. Settlement reading shall be taken before and after the
application of each new load at every 15 minutes until the
application of next load increment.
VI. Settlement shall be recorded with minimum 4 dial gauges of
0.01 mm sensitivity for single pile and fixed on non-
movable support with magnetic bases and tips resting on
glass plates, fixed on base plate, placed on top of pile,
equally spaced around the pile top.
VII. Support of datum bar is 3D or 2.0 Mtr. away from test pile.
VIII. The test load shall be maintained for 24 hours and
settlement shall be recorded as in note 4 above. After first
one hour deflection shall be measured every one hour
interval up to 24 hours.
IX. Unloading may be carried out; if possible a period of 15
minutes may be allowed to elapse between the two
successive stages of load decrement.
X. The safe load on single pile for the Initial pile/Routine
load test should be least of the following:
i. Two - thirds of the final load at which the total
displacement attains a value of 18 mm.
ii. 50 percent of the final load at which the total
displacement equal to 10 percent of the pile
diameter in case of uniform diameter piles.
XI. For any discrepancy or reference please follow IS: 2911
(Part 4)2013.
5.0 Specification:

Specification shall include the following Information:

5.1 Pile Specifications.

I. Pile No : P7/P2/ LHS

LOAD REALESED

I. As per IS 2911 (Part –IV), pile is not settlement at 18 mm.

II. Pile is Safe for Design achieved Load
III. Rebound of Settled pile 3.32 mm.

6.1 Discussion.

I. When the pile having 1200 mm diameter 18.00 meter depth

from cut off level was loaded up to 514.50 MT the Total
settlement achieved is 12.36 mm, and after unloading a Net
settlement is 9.04 mm. thus the Rebound comes to be 3.32
MM.

II. As per is code of practice IS: 2911 Part-4 2013 WORKING

PILE LOAD Test is Success for Final Test load of 514.50 MT.

III. Graph of Load v/s Settlement, Log Sheet, Tables are enclosed.
