INTRODUCTION:

From the lesson activity implemented today, I can analyze the strengths, weakness,
opportunities to improve the activity as well as the threats that may come along with the
curriculum session. Thus, today’s reflection would be based on these four aspects. I was a
little bit nervous going into this lesson because it’s my first class in this practicum. In the
lesson plan, I continued the topic where their English teacher currently teach them. The topic
was Unit 1 about Town and Cities. I mainly focused on reading skills and writing skills. The
lesson started with self-introduction between pupils and I. This lesson plan focused on
antonyms as it actually quite easy topic for non-English speakers. I used flashcards that
contain pictures, textbook and worksheet as I already stated in the lesson plan. All of the
teaching materials allowed pupils to interact actively.

STRENGTH

Based on the feedback of students, the strength in my teaching was my ability to

arouse pupils’ interest towards learning by involving the pupils during the activity by involving
the use of flashcards that give a great description of what I taught. This allowed pupils to
speak more as they questioned and answered every simple quiz. Pupils and I have a lot of
energy to spare as the session actually in the early morning of school session. I also praised
pupils as they cooperated and actively interacted with myself and the teaching materials.

WEAKNESS

However, I also be able to analyses my teaching session for weakness. This step is
crucial as this will help me to improve my way of teaching. One of them is the way I posted
the questions to pupils was a bit lacking because I didn’t structure the questions well enough
as it’s also monotonous and much more straightforward. Teacher should use a variety of
strategies to engage all learners in the classroom which to ensure that every single
individual has the opportunity to participate in discussion and point out their opinions on
certain topics. In term of class control, I quite lacking as there always a pupil who like to
disturb the learning during the session with unnecessary noises and many more. In term of
attendance, it’s good but still can be improve as some of students attend the school session
for today.

OPPORTUNITY

There's a correlation between effective pacing and student engagement, so it's

crucial to consider the speed at which I move through a lesson and the rate of delivery for
different parts of the lesson. When pacing is too slow, students often become bored and
disengaged. When it's too fast, some may not grasp what's being taught and get lost or
discouraged. I would try to improve on my teaching next time by determine how much time I
have through scripting the questions I'll pose as well as plan actions and words for your
teaching point. I would also think through and rehearse key parts of the lesson to know how
much time to give each element. Last but not least, I will think through transition and be
ready to read signals especially from the students.

THREAT

Nowadays, teacher can no longer just go into class and teaches, rather they need to
improvise and using their creativity to create strategies that implement every 21 st century
essential skills. Ineffective strategies will not bring targeted results. This a threat for every
lesson plan if teacher want to. Lack of attendance also making it difficult for teacher to fully
apply their lesson plan if their activities involved groupwork. The lack of technological
equipment like projector also become negative factors as this make teacher lack choices of
materials that they can use.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, regardless the effort, I believe that as a teacher I still need to push my
students harder, so that they can learn and gain more about English language. This is
necessary as it’s my role a helper for my pupils. However, the issues that may arise along
the way should also be focus and overcome first in order to make the learning process
become more effective and efficient for them to learn.
