CHECKLIST TO FORM AN NGO – RELIGIOUS TRUST

Procedure
 Decide the type of NGO – a Trust or a Society.
 Decide a Name for the Trust.
 Appoint a minimum of two trustees.
 Determine lawful objectives falling under charitable, religious, educational,
or social welfare activities.
 Prepare a trust deed clearly defining objectives, rules, and regulations.
 Execute the trust deed with proper signatures and 2 witnesses
 Minimum Stamp Paper value: Rs.5,000/- or 2% of Corpus value mentioned.
 Register at Sub-Registrar office/Registrar at Trust Address.
 Arrange for the payment of the registration fee.
 Submit the application and supporting documents to the Registrar of Trusts.

 Proof of address of the trust. (Any form of a utility bill as proof of address.)
Documents Checklist - Trustees
 Proof of identity for trustee(s). – Self Attested
 Two photographs of the parties involved in the trust.
 Address proof for trustee(s) (Any form of a utility bill as proof of address.) –
Self Attested
 PAN cards of the individuals associated with the trust.
 Valid email ID.
 Valid Mobile Number.
Additional Procedures - After Receiving Trust Registration
 Bank account details of the trust.
 Apply for PAN card of the trust
Optional Procedures
 NGO Darpan registration to accept money in Foreign Currency
 In Order to Claim Exemptions Under Section 11 & 12 Of Income Tax Act,
1961, It Is Mandatory for All Trust/Society/Institution to Get Registration
Under Section 12a Of the Act.
