the goddess of fire and war.

Sekhmet had the head of a lion and the body of a woman.

She was usually depicted with a sun disc on top of her head.
When she was seated, she usually held the ankh of life, but

symbol of Lower Egypt.

Sekhmet (Sakhmet) is one of the oldest known Egyptian

deities. Sekhmet's name comes from the Ancient
Egyptian word sekhem, which means "power or might".

powerful or mighty". Sekhmet is a warrior goddess as well as
goddess of healing. She is depicted as a lioness, the fiercest
