Setting
The setting included a school, the male lead’s provincial home, and Jollibee
showcasing the male lead’s childhood memories at a young age. Overall, the setting
complements what the story “”Apo” wants to convey towards its audience which is
the memorable places that we often spend time with our grandparents. It also
highlights the setting of Jollibee Food Chain as the commercial is a “Kwentong
Jollibee” advertisement to promote the brand.

Mise en scene
All necessary props and elements used correspond to the theme of Kwentong
Jollibee Series “Apo”. The costume used correspond to the actors and actresses role
in the series. The necessary setting was also used that reflects what the scene
wants to convey, such as in the clinic, wherein it shows the grandparent’s old age.

Acting
The acting of the characters were great as they portrayed emotions that convey the
expression that matches the situation of the scene. All lines were said clearly
according to the flow of the commercial. If I was a foreigner, I can still understand the
story of this advertisement through the actors’ portrayal.

Colour
The shift of bland colors to vibrant colors clearly shows the transition of the time of
the story, such as the flashbacks of the male lead’s childhood memories with his
grandparents and up to when he was all grown up in the present when he was
reminiscing in bus heading towards his provincial home.

Technical Codes

Editing
The editing followed the flow of a story convention flow, which arranged scenes to
have a plot that the audience can understand. In this case, it showed the male
character going back to his provincial home after building his success for studying in
Manila for college. On the bus, he reminisced his childhood memories with his
grandparents who took care of him, and during the present, he returned to repay
their sacrifices for him. All editing techniques followed this flow to include the
necessary elements in editing that should be added, such as filter, transition, etc.

Audio
The audio was clear for voices. The music used resonates with the necessary mood
set in the scene.
Lighting
I noticed that the lighting during the last scene changes when the director wanted the
audience to have a mixed feeling about the situation of the grandparents passing
away. Even my classmate, Roelyn, was affected by this, as the lighting was dim,
giving her a bad feeling. But, when the note was revealed, it showed a good ending
in Jollibee, wherein the lighting was bright and clear to indicate a happy mood.

Written Codes
Printed language
The printed language at the end of the scene explicitly showed the moral of this
