PRELUDE
HYMNS are songs of praise to GOD, a metrical
composition adapted for singing. It is to be sung
communally , in a worship of celebration. In the words of
Walter Savage Lander, “MUSIC is GOD’S gift to man,
the only art of heaven given to earth, and the only art
of earth we take to heaven.”
HYMNS OF PRAISE
*HOW GREAT THOU ART by Stuart Hine is a hymn that begins on
earth, and ends in heaven.
*HOLY, HOLY, HOLY... lyrics by Reginald Heber and music by John
Dykes, a beautiful hymn of worship, and the text has been named
“Nicaea”.
*AMAZING GRACE...lyrics by John Newton, that we are saved
through faith and it is a gift of God.
*ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME...
lyrics by Edward Perronet and affirms his conviction that God ought
to be worshipped in great glory and honor.

It has connection with the Scripture passages in John 20.

*IN THE SWEET BY AND BY...was written by Sanford Bennett about his
friend Joseph Webster who looked downcast. A result of a short conversation
between this 2 friends, a simple gospel song of encouragement was realized.
*BLESSED ASSURANCE...written by Fanny Crosby,who as an infant was
accidentally blinded. Her good friend, Phoebe Knapp an amateur musician
composed the music, such triumph of faith over sight. On her tombstone it
reads...”She hath done what she could.”
*GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU... was written and composed by a couple
Cirilla Martin & husband Stillman. When Cirilla was ill, the son told the father
who is a preacher, if he kept his appointment to preach, Is God will take care
of mother while he was away? A song of son’s challenge, with mother’s faith
and father’s faithfulness to his congregation.
*IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL...was written by Horatio Spafford , as we all
know, a hymn of triumph over tragedy. Facing trials as great as a billows,
together with Spafford , we say “It is well with my soul.”
OFFERTORY (giving of tithes, pledges, thanksgiving, and building fund)
*COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS... written by Rev. Johnson Oatman Jr., a
Methodist pastor and still we are happy to sing it up to this moment. Just
remember a quote by Roy T. Bennett, ‘count your blessings, not your
problems.
*GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS................................REV. NOEL S. LEGASPI
It is written by Thomas Chisholm and music by William Runyan. This hymn
stands out like a beacon light on the theme of God’s goodness and
faithfulness. This hymn was a result of the author’s realization of ‘ morning
by morning new mercies I see God’s faithfulness.
