This research aims to develop a scientific thinking-based assessment instrument that
is valid and effective. This research uses research methodsResearch and Development (R&D) with the 4-D model. The subjects of this research were class XI MIA at MAS TPI Silau Dunia, totaling 20 people. The research instrument is an assessment instrument based on scientific thinking that was developed. Based on the research results, the validity aspect was found to be average average 97.55% by category“Very Valid”.After going through an effective test, the results of the validity of the question items obtained 12 questions which showed an rhitung > rtabel so the instrument is said to be valid, the reliability test results are r11 = 0.55 with rtable= 0.444 then it can be said to be reliable with moderate (effective) interpretation. Thus, the assessment instrument based on scientific thinking on reproductive system material that has been developed is declared valid and effective for teachers to use in the biology learning process, especially on Human Reproductive System material.
