As the pandemic progresses, taking care of
ourselves has been especially challenging
while keeping up with current affairs and
responsibilities.
At some point, we start losing confidence,
motivation, and purpose that it exhausts us
from living and from loving ourselves.
THE LORD IS TELLING YOU NA IKAW
NAMAN MUNA… TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
NAMAN. HINGA. THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR
YOU. PERSONALLY FOR YOU.
Self-care is self-love and it’s
not selfish.
Selfish: meeting your own needs and your
own needs only

Self-love: meeting your needs first so you can

meet the needs of others
“Yet the news about Jesus spread all the more,
so that crowds of people came to hear him and
to be healed of their sickness. But Jesus often
withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
Luke 5: 15-16
Jesus honored His need to be alone.

Do you know people who do not meet their

needs anymore?
“Each of you should look not only to your own
interest, but also to the interest of others.”
Philippians 2:4
The Bible is saying,
“Do not look at your own interests alone”

Meaning, it assumes that you look after your

needs, too.
BECAUSE TAKING CARE OF OTHERS MEANS
TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES TOO.
SERVING OTHERS MEANS SERVING
OURSELVES TOO.
“The second is like it: You shall love
your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:39
“PLACE THE OXYGEN MASK
ON YOURSELF FIRST
BEFORE HELPING SMALL
CHILDREN OR OTHERS
WHO MAY NEED YOUR
ASSISTANCE.”

Lesson: Take care of your health

first so you can take care of
others more. You must take care
of yourself before you can do
anything for anyone else.
WHAT ARE THE SELF- ISSUES AND
CHALLENGES THAT HINDER US FROM
TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES?
ABUELa
▪ Unresolved trauma
▪ When we go through life
carrying unresolved painful
experiences we can engage in
unhealthy coping
mechanisms
When you become aware of your
story, you can come to
understand your needs and begin
to break unhealthy patterns.
Luisa
▪ Emotional Load
▪ Always offering a helping hand
▪ her worth is only found in carrying and
solving everyone’s problems and
pretending to be strong through it all

Stigma around mental health issues

and how people may feel afraid to
share their struggles, fearing it will
be seen as weakness
Luisa
▪ Perfectionism
▪ she compares herself to a set of
standards
▪ Trying to meet everyone’s expectations
is a heavy burden to carry. Saying and
doing all the right things to please
others is exhausting

It’s okay to let go of perfectionism to

protect your mental and emotional
wellness. Mistakes don’t mean you
are failing but are learning and
evolving.
BRUNO
▪ Rejection and Disappointment
▪ sees things differently and doesn't fit the
“family expectations”
▪ His experience highlights the
importance of taking the time to talk
about mental health, mental illness and
challenges that can affect the way we
treat others.
We need to talk about feelings.
Everyone deserves to be heard,
respected and accepted.
MIRABEL
▪ Self-worth
▪ it takes one curious, brave and hopeful
person to start breaking cycles and lead
the healing path
▪ You do not need to wait until things are
crumbling to take care of yourself.

It is okay to be your true self and honor

your needs without having to meet
others’ expectations. Part of taking care
of yourself includes self-kindness,
boundaries, self-acceptance and
authenticity.

The more you neglect to love yourself, the
weaker your capacity for love is and the more
difficult it is for you to build genuine
relationships with other people, even the closest
ones.
Healthy Love- love for self and
love for others
Loving oneself only makes your life incomplete.
Loving the self is a preparation to love others.

Healthy self-love bears the fruit of healthy, loving

relationships. This makes us fully alive.
