Another war between the Ahoms and the Kacharis occurred in the year 1536 when the Kacharis revolted
for regaining their independence from the Ahoms. The Kacharis were defeated by the Ahoms and the
Kachari king Detchung was put to death.
The Kacharisthen fled to Maibong. The defeat of the Kacharis made the Ahoms the master of not only
the lower part of the Dhansiri valley but also of the whole of the Kachari possession, north of the Kalang
(greater partof Nowgong).
Anew post, known as Marangikhowa Gohain, was created for the administration of this newiy acquired territory.
Suhungmung's reign was one of the most eventful in Assam history. Many historians credited as the real
