DHPE Session 1

DAY 3

REFLECTION

Today's session was both insightful and engaging, thanks to the expertise and interactive approach of
both facilitators. The session was divided into two halves, with Dr. Brekhna leading the first half and Dr.
Nowshad taking over the second half.

Dr. Brekhna's session focused on Problem-Based Learning (PBL). She provided comprehensive insights
into the principles and implementation of PBL, emphasizing its benefits in fostering critical thinking and
self-directed learning. We learned how to effectively conduct PBL sessions and design PBL scenarios,
which was particularly valuable. The practical component, where we performed multiple tasks in
subgroups, allowed us to apply the concepts in real-time, enhancing our understanding through hands-
on experience.

In the second half, Dr. Nowshad introduced us to Team-Based Learning (TBL). His session covered the
structure and key elements of TBL, including pre-assessment, Individual Readiness Assurance Test (IRAT),
Team Readiness Assurance Test (TRAT), and the importance of immediate feedback. This methodology
was highlighted as one of the most effective forms of collaborative learning, thanks to its structured
approach and emphasis on teamwork and feedback.

Overall, the session was highly interactive, promoting active participation and engagement. Both
facilitators demonstrated a strong command of their respective topics, making the session informative
and enriching. However, one notable drawback was the lack of adherence to the scheduled time. The
session extended until 4:30 PM, two hours beyond the allocated time, which could be improved in future
sessions to respect participants' time and schedules.
