1.

Study the following pattern:

1+2+1=4
1+2+3+2+1=9
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 16
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 25

Find the sum of 10 + 11 + 12 + ⋯ + 36 + 37 + 36 + ⋯ + 12 + 11 + 10.

3. Ian wanted to finish reading a book in 4 days. He completed reading 40% of the book
on the 1st day. He read 20% of the remaining pages on the 2nd day. On the 3rd day, he
read three times the number of pages he read on the 2nd day. Find the number of
pages Ian read on the last day as a percentage of what he read on the 1st day.

4. The figure below shows a quadrilateral 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 with ∠𝐵𝐴𝐷 = ∠𝐴𝐷𝐶 = 90°. The
point 𝐸 is on the diagonal 𝐵𝐷 for which ∠𝐶𝐸𝐷 = 90°. Given that 𝐴𝐷 = 48 cm,
𝐶𝐷 = 84 cm and 𝐶𝐸 = 72 cm, find the length, in cm, of 𝐵𝐷.

6. Peter, Paul and Mary start walking around a field at the same time, in the same
direction. Peter takes 1 minute to complete one round, Paul takes 1 minute 15
seconds, and Mary takes 1 minute and 30 seconds. In how many minutes will they
meet at the starting point again?

7. If Mary rides a bicycle to school and walks back home, it takes 27 minutes. If Mary
walks to school and walks back home, it takes 43 minutes. How long, in minutes, does
it take if Mary rides a bicycle to school and rides a bicycle back home?

8. In the following figure, both ∠𝐴𝑂𝐵 and ∠𝐶𝑂𝐷 are right angles. Obtuse ∠𝐴𝑂𝐷 is
greater than obtuse ∠𝐴𝑂𝐶 by 20°. Find acute ∠𝐵𝑂𝐶 (in degrees).

12. While Train 𝑋 was crossing a bridge from end 𝐴 to end 𝐵, Train 𝑌 was crossing the
bridge from end 𝐵 to end 𝐴. They started travelling from their end at the same time
and each of them travelled at the same constant speed along the bridge. They took 12
seconds to meet each other on the bridge. Then each of them took 23 seconds to leave
the bridge. Given that the bridge is 492 metres long, what is the total length (in metres)
of Train 𝑋 and Train 𝑌?

Start:

They met after 12 seconds:

They left the bridge after another 23 seconds:

race.

Athlete No. 53: The champion has an even athlete number.

Athlete No. 78: No, I am the fastest among all athletes with even numbers, but
I am not the champion.
Athlete No. 115: The champion has an athlete number divisible by 5.
Athlete No. 254: But it cannot be you, Athlete 115, because I was faster than
you. By the way, I was ranked 2nd.
Athlete No. 700: No, I was ranked 2nd.

It is known that at most two athletes made incorrect statements. Find the sum of the
numbers of the athletes who were ranked 1st and 2nd.
