Recent Articles on Fertilizers (June 2023 - June 2024)

1. Government Subsidies and Policies:

The Indian government approved a INR 24,420 crore fertilizer subsidy for the 2024 kharif season.

This includes subsidies for di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of phosphate (MOP), and

nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) fertilizers. This subsidy aims to ensure that these

fertilizers remain affordable for farmers.

2. Nano Fertilizers:

The government has approved the launch of nano liquid DAP fertilizers, developed by IFFCO.

These fertilizers are expected to benefit farmers by improving efficiency and reducing dependency

on imports. Nano DAP is projected to be a game-changer, similar to the previously launched nano

urea.

3. Production and Imports:

India achieved record production, imports, and sales of fertilizers like Urea, DAP, and NPKs in the

first quarter of FY 2023-24. Urea production saw an 11% increase, while DAP and NPKs saw 8%
and 27% increases, respectively. Despite these increases, the country remains dependent on

imports for significant quantities of DAP, MOP, and other raw materials.
