PRO1ECT SYNOPSIS

SCOPE AND OB1ECTIVE



According to Indian Motor Vehicle Act 1988 (IMV Act
1988),no person shall drive any motor vehicle or no
owner of the motor vehicle shall cause or permit the
vehicle to be driven in any public place untill or unless
the vehicle is registered. As well as to drive a motor
vehicle the person should carry a legal driving license
issued by the authority.
The objective of Jehicle Registration and Licensing
System (JRLS) is to provide a system for managing the
whole functionality of R.T.O. (Regional Transport
Office). Without automation, the managment of R.T.O.
has become an unweildy task. The end user's day-to-day
jobs os managing the R.T.O. will be simplified by a
considerable amount through the automated system.
The system will be able to handle many services to take
care of all users in a quick manner.



By developing this website, our motto is to fully
automate the functions of R.T.O. department.
Idea to develope this website was struck suddenly when
I was in the queue to apply for my driving licence.
I discussed with my friends, they also showed their
interest and finally our team was ready.
The basic objective of developing this project was that
for applying for a licence and for vehicle registration
you need not stand in long queues. You can simply log
on to the website from any place and register yourself
and can apply for any kind of licence online.
After applying you would be provided with the date and
time of reporting for test.
You need to bring all the set of documents mentioned in
the checklist.
Fully Automated System would greatly reduce the
inconvenience that was happening to people earlier.
This project has been developed in ASP.net using
Microsoft SQL Server.

PROCESS DESCRIPTION


This project includes both, the basic functionality and
the high level concepts of ASP.net. The basic
functionality includes the use of a single Master page
for the complete website and various content pages.
The main home page includes Login window on the
right with the help of which the user as well as the
administrator can log in.At the top it contains Quick
links.You can navigate to any of the pages using these
quick links.The left part contains a Menu which is
basically a hierarchical tree type structure containing
various options.
You can apply for temporary licence and a unique id
would be generated .After applying for temporary
licence you can apply for permanent licence.
You can also apply for
New vehicle registration.
Update vehicle registration.
Transfer vehicle registration.


The Administrator has all the rights intact with him.
Administartor can add a new user, delete the user, edit
the details of the user.
At every point a Unique id is generated ,this is as a
result of the connection between the Microsoft SQL
SERVER and Visual Studio 2008.
There are few static content pages containing the
information regarding various road signs including
Cautionary, Mandatory, Informatory symbols.
At the end of the project we would be able to develop
CRYSTAL REPORTS which are basically the pdf
application form .This Crystal report has to be
brought by the candidate during the time of his
reporting.

CONCLUSION

Jehicle Registration and Licensing System (JRLS) is to
provide a system for managing the whole functionality
of R.T.O. . Without automation, the management of
R.T.O. has become an unweildy task.The system will be
able to handle many services to take care of all users in
a quick manner.So we conclude that this project would
greatly help to reduce the inconvinience happening to
the people and has a great scope in future too.
