Subject + past tense form of the verb + the rest of the sentence

Past Continuous tense

Things to know
I. The past tense forms of the verb ‘be’ → was and were
was: we use ‘was’ with singular subjects
 were: we use ‘were’ with ‘you and plural subjects
2. The present participle forms of the verbs
go → going
come → coming
Structure
Subject + was / were + present participle + rest of the sentence
Examples:
1. Gouri _________ a nice breakfast for us all. (cook)
Gouri was cooking a nice breakfast for us all.
2. My little sister ______________ in her class yesterday. (dance)
My little sister was dancing in her class yesterday.
3. We ______________ a new movie on the TV. (watch)
We were watching a new movie on TV.
4. Gurunadh Sir _________ Telugu grammar. (teach)
Gurunadh Sir was teaching Telugu grammar.
5. JP Naraya Sir ____________ a lot of homework. (give)
JP Naraya Sir was teaching. a lot of homework.
