In case of axle lock of Locomotives & MEMU/DEMU in section, the culprit wheel
is being lifted to lear the block section. For this 'Wheel Skate Trolley' are available with
the WCR ARTs. There after nearest Locomotive shed staff attends the Locomotive for
further movement. Whereas, in some of the Railways, pinion puller is being used to
remove the pinion of the culprit wheel at / near the spot, so as to free the whee!,
however the pinion extractor is not available with WCR ARIs,.
In view of above, vide note under reference-1, it is decided to purchase one
p1nion extractor each for ART of BINAand ET. Further PCME Sir has instructed that the
deta1ls of ease of use/time saving with pinion extractor vis-a-vis locked-axle iftingtrolley
should be kept as record and once its usefulness is established its proliferation may be
done
