Background
There are different products in your area which may be used for income generating
projects, but due to failure of adding value to them business enterprise are crippled with
financial challenges.
The CALA
The CALA has two parts, Part A,B and C. You need to complete all the parts.
Part A
· carryout a research and find out the products that can be added value in your
area which are being sold in raw state by enterprises in your area.
· research on the challenges prevent or inhibit enterprises to add value to the
available products in your area.
· research on ways that can be done to add value to the products as a means to
reduce financial challenges .
· in your research include ICT tools , take pictures on the ways that can be done to
improve finances of enterprise through value addition.
Part B.
· Present your findings of the products that can be added value (showing samples of
4 raw products with added value products) .
Part C
· Mkae a report on the benefits of value addition to the business enterprise.
How you will be assessed
· To assess your write up, your facilitator will consider your research materials,
pictures about your product and originality.
· Achievement standards specific to this CALA will be provided so that you are
aware of the assessment criteria.

· As you carry out your research, remember to write notes, use ICT tools and
pictures are essential
· You can read your notes.

To come up with a products that needs to be added value
· prepare questions that you are going to use in your research (5)
· carry out interviews and make observations in the local community,
remember to take pictures (5)
· present your findings on the responses given and observations made (5)
· presentation of the products showing off that have been added value (5)
· Report writing to a business enterprise on the benefits of value addition
(10)
How you will be assessed
· The CALA will be assessed out of 30
· The facilitator will assess:
· your questions for the questionnaire
· products of your choice that has been added value to
· your relevant pictures
CALA Tips
In your research questions consider:
· Market relevance of the product that has been added value
· Use ICT tools.
· You can use different materials like pictures, charts and colours.
· scores for evidence shall come from your questionnares.
