The present simple tense (현재 단순)

The simple present is the most basic verb tense in English.

1. WHEN DO WE USE?
- Pernament: something is always true
I live in Vietnam
- Routines: something you do regularly
I wake up at 6am
- Facts
The Sun rises in the East
- Schedules: what time something happens
The flight leaves at noon
- Frequency: describe how often something is happening
2. HOW TO KNOW?
- never, rarely/ seldom/ hardly, sometimes/ occationally, often/
frequently/ regularly, always
- every day, every week, every month,…
- once/ twice/ 3 times/ 4 times…. a day/ a week/ a month

Question words: where, what, how, who, how often….+ do/ does + S + V

4. Spelling of Present Simple Verbs


- Most verbs: add ‘s’
Dance -> dances cook -> cooks sleep -> sleeps
- Verbs ending in ‘o, ch, x, sh, s’: add ‘es’
Watch -> watches miss -> misses Mix -> mixes
Ver Mix -> mixes
