1.0 INTRODUCTION

Aker Marine Contractors has developed a conventional mooring system for the Rig to be
moored in Location. The water depth at the well head is approximately W.D. ft and the
water depth over the mooring spread ranges from W.D. ft to W.D. ft.

The composition of the conventional mooring leg is summarized below.

2.0 MOORING CONFIGURATION

The Rig will be moored at Location using a conventional mooring system with a rig
heading of Heading° in approximately W.D. ft water depth at the well head, and a water
depth ranging from W.D. ft to W.D. ft. The composition of the mooring legs at this
location is as follows. The mooring will have a Spread Type spread.

4.0 SETOUT PROCEDURES

The following procedures detail the steps to setout the moorings at Location using the
Vessel. The order in which the legs will be setout will be determined on site. Presumably,
the primary legs will be setout first. After the primary legs have been setout the four breast
legs will be setout. A minimum of # towing vessels are needed until four legs are set out.

1. The PCC is passed to the AHTS;

2. The AHTS work wire is attached to the PCC using a bearing swivel;
3. Rig pays out 200 – 300 ft chain;
4. Anchor is brought to the stern roller on the AHTS to check its orientation;
5. The AHTS pays out 150 – 200 ft wire;
6. The MODU begins to pay out chain as the AHTS increases bollard pull (Figure XX);
7. After the rig pays out all of the chain, the AHTS will decrease bollard pull, as
required, while the MODU makes the crossover to the wire;
8. When the crossover is complete, the MODU pays out enough wire to get the
connection past the bolster;
9. The AHTS pays out work wire until the anchor is off bottom;
10. MODU will payout the wire as AHTS increases power (Figure XX);
11. When the work wire is payed out the AHTS will increase power to stretch out the
mooring leg;
12. The AHTS decreases power, and lowers the anchor to the seafloor to be seated
(Figure XX);
13. Rig will tension the mooring leg to ensure that the anchor is holding;
14. AHTS will pay out work wire (~1.2 times the water depth) and chases back to the rig;
15. AHTS notifies rig when the PCC comes off the anchor (Figure XX);
16. AHTS will pass the PCC back to the rig;
17. Steps 1-16 will be repeated until all of the mooring legs are set;
18. The MODU will proof tension the mooring legs;

5.0 RECOVERY PROCEDURES

The order in which the legs will be recovered will be determined on site. Presumably, the
breast legs will be recovered first. After breast legs have been recovered, the four primary
legs will be recovered. The following procedures are for the recovery of the conventional
mooring legs. A minimum of # towing vessels will be needed once four legs are recovered.

1. AHTS connects PCC wire into the work wire;

2. MODU tensions mooring leg to approximately the same load as the proof load during
the setout;
3. Once the chaser has been connected, the AHTS begins paying out work wire to 1.3
times the water depth. The AHTS will begin chasing to anchor;
4. Once at the anchor, the AHTS will pull against the anchor for 15 – 20 minutes to
ensure the chaser is at or close to the anchor (Figure XX);
5. The MODU will slack the mooring leg tension;
6. The AHTS will then shorten the work wire to be approximately 150 ft in excess of the
water depth;
7. The AHTS increases power to 85% and pulls along the direction of the mooring leg for
15 minutes (Figure XX);
8. If the anchor has not broken out, repeat step 7. Heaving in 50 ft of work wire each
time;
9. When the anchor breaks out of the seafloor, heave in work wire until the anchor is off
bottom;
10. Increase power to 85 – 90 % or until the rig wire clears the bolster;
11. If the rig wire is still on the bolster, reduce power and heave in additional work wire;
12. Maintain pull while the rig heaves in the mooring wire (Figure XX);
13. Reduce power to ~20% and maintain position while the rig makes the crossover to
chain;
14. AHTS heaves in work wire;
15. Rig heaves in chain (Figure XX);
16. AHTS reduces power to allow the chaser to slide up the chain;
17. Once the rig has heaved in all the chain, the anchor is racked on the bolster and the
PCC wire is passed back to the rig.

6.0 SCHEDULE

It is estimated that it should take estimated time to setout the moorings at location. This
assumes that vessel and vessel will be used on the setout. It is estimated that it should
take estimated time to recover the moorings at location. This assumes that vessel and
vessel will be used on the recovery.

7.0 SAFETY

All operations shall be performed in a safe manner. Safety has the highest priority of all,
and before any work is started, each department manager (i.e., deck foremen, captains,
etc.) must ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner. The job should always be
organized with safety as the dominant issue. All personnel should be continuously
informed and updated as to possible risks involved in the operations.

A safety meeting will be held aboard each vessel involved in the operation prior to the
commencement of work. In addition a meeting will be held aboard the rig prior to the
hook-up and disconnect operations.

SAFETY BRIEFING

 Running Wires
 AHTS Heaving and Buoy Heave
 Personnel Deck Responsibilities Clearly Defined
 Only Designated Personnel Will Give Winch Instructions
 Only Designated Personnel Will Communicate Between The Vessels
 Be Deliberate Throughout Task Execution - If You Aren’t Sure, Don’t Do It
 Inform Deck Foreman Immediately of Anything that Compromises Safety on
Deck
 Do Not Attempt to Operate Deck Equipment With Which You Are Unfamiliar
 If You Are Not on Shift, Stay Clear of Deck Operations
 Be Aware and Observe Specific Safety Instructions Given By Vessel Captains Or
Designated Supervisors
 Task Specific Safety Meetings to be Arranged BY ANYONE if Required
 Follow Vessel Rules
 Be Considerate of Those Off Shift Trying To Rest –
 Immediately inform AMC Representative Of Any Incidents. AMC Representative
to further report to Drilling Contractor and Client, both verbally and later, in a
written report.
