1.0 INTRODUCTION

Aker Marine Contractors has developed a preset mooring system for the Rig to be installed
in Location. The water depth at the well head is approximately W.D. ft and the water
depth over the mooring spread ranges from W.D. ft to W.D. ft.

The composition of the preset mooring leg is summarized below.

2.0 MOORING CONFIGURATION

The Rig will be moored at Location using a preset mooring system with a rig heading of
Heading° in approximately W.D. ft water depth at the well head, and a water depth
ranging from W.D. ft to W.D. ft. The composition of the mooring legs at this location is
as follows. The mooring will have a Spread Type spread.

4.0 INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

The following procedures detail the steps to install the mooring system at Location using
the Vessel.

1. The ground chain is connected to the anchor;

2. Anchor is deployed off the stern;
3. The ground chain is lowered (Figure XX);
4. The chain is secured in the shark’s jaws;
5. The catenary wire is connected to the ground chain;
6. The shark’s jaws are opened;
7. The AHTS will position its stern over the anchor drop location;
8. The wire is deployed until the anchor is on bottom. When the anchor reaches the
bottom the surveyor will take a fix. The AHTS will slowly pull forward as it
continues to pay out wire (Figure XX);
9. The catenary wire is paid out while the AHTS slowly pulls forward.
10. The load cell is connected;
11. The mooring is fluke set (Figure XX);
12. Catenary calculations are run to determine the anchor position and if the anchor is in
the tolerance box;
13. Once the anchor position has been determined, the power will be reduced;
14. The load cell will be disconnected and the remaining catenary wire will be connected
and payed out;
15. The pendant wire is connected to the mooring wire;
16. The pendant wire is payed out and placed in the shark’s jaws;
17. As the pendant wire is payed out, it is rolled back to give adequate clearance to bring
the rig onto location (Figure XX);
18. The surface buoy with a pig tail chain and swivel is connected to the end of the
pendant wire;
19. The proper leg number is painted on the buoy;
20. The buoy is deployed (Figure XX);
21. Steps 1 - 20 will be repeated for the remaining anchors;

5.0 HOOK-UP PROCEDURES

The order in which the legs will be hooked up will be determined on site. Presumably, the
primary legs will be hooked-up first. After the primary legs have been connected, the four
breast legs will be connected. The following procedures are for the hook up of the steel
catenary mooring legs. A minimum of # towing vessels are needed until four legs are
hooked up.

1. The AHTS will deck the surface buoy and connect the workwire to the pendant
wire;
2. The AHTS will pull toward the MODU Once the catenary is formed the J-lock
will slip off and AHTS heaves it in (Figure XX);
3. The AHTS will back up to the required fairlead;
4. The MODU will pass the rig chain to the AHTS, which will secure it in a pelican
hook or 2nd deck stopper (Figure XX);
5. The MODU will pay out rig chain as the AHTS heaves in the pendant wire
(Figure XX);
6. The AHTS will secure the end of the mooring wire in the shark’s jaw (Figure
XX);
7. The mooring wire will be connected to the rig chain (Figure XX);
8. The J-lock chaser will be connected to the rig chain and will take the load;
9. Both the pelican hook and the shark jaw’s will be released;
10. The AHTS will lower the J-lock while the rig heaves in chain (Figure XX);
11. Once the catenary is formed the J-lock will slip off and AHTS heaves it in.

6.0 DISCONNECT PROCEDURES

The disconnect procedures are summarized below.

1. Vessel rigs J-lock chaser on work wire and maneuvers close to MODU.
2. Rig heaves in chain as directed by AMC Rig Coordinator.
3. AHTS lowers J-lock chaser and maneuvers into position (as directed by the AMC
Field Engineer) to engage chain;
4. AHTS engages chain with J-lock chaser approximately 200 ft from the chain/wire
connection (Figure XX);
5. Once the AHTS informs the MODU the chaser is at the proper location, the MODU
begins to pay out chain until there is ~ 2,500 – 3,000 ft of chain outboard;
6. After the rig pays out all of the chain, the AHTS recovers the J-lock chaser. The J-
lock chaser is recovered on deck (Figure XX);
7. The AHTS will walk chain on deck as necessary until the catenary wire can be placed
in the shark’s jaw. Attach a pelican hook (or 2nd shark jaws) to the rig chain and
release the J-lock chaser (Figure XX);
8. Break the connecting link between the chain and wire and connect the pendant wire
to the catenary mooring wire (Figure XX);
9. AHTS pays out pendant while the MODU heaves in chain (Figure XX);
10. When the MODU has ~200 ft of chain out the AHTS will pass the end of the chain
back to rig (Figure XX)
11. AHTS moves away from the rig, connects buoy to the pendant wire, and overboards
buoy.

7.0 RECOVERY PROCEDURES

The procedures for recovering the moorings at location are summarized below.

1. AHTS decks surface buoy;

2. Disconnect and secure the buoy;
3. Connect work wire to pendant wire;
4. Heave in pendant wire;
5. Heave in catenary wire until ~100’ over water depth is outboard (Figure XX);
6. AHTS pulls in the opposing direction of the anchor until the anchor breaks out of the
seafloor (Figure XX);
7. Heave in remaining catenary wire;
8. Heave in chain (Figure XX);
9. Deck anchor and disconnect from the chain;
10. Secure anchor;

8.0 SCHEDULE

It is estimated that it should take estimated time to set the preset moorings at location.
This assumes that # systems are moved at a time on the vessel. Hook-up and disconnect
should take estimated time hours for each operation (assuming vessels utilized).

9.0 SAFETY

All operations shall be performed in a safe manner. Safety has the highest priority of all,
and before any work is started, each department manager (i.e., deck foremen, captains,
etc.) must ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner. The job should always be
organized with safety as the dominant issue. All personnel should be continuously
informed and updated as to possible risks involved in the operations.

A safety meeting will be held aboard each vessel involved in the operation prior to the
commencement of work. In addition a meeting will be held aboard the rig prior to the
hook-up and disconnect operations.

SAFETY BRIEFING

 AHTS Heaving and Buoy Heave
 Personnel Deck Responsibilities Clearly Defined
 Only Designated Personnel Will Give Winch Instructions
 Only Designated Personnel Will Communicate Between The Vessels
 Be Deliberate Throughout Task Execution - If You Aren’t Sure, Don’t Do It
 Inform Deck Foreman Immediately of Anything that Compromises Safety on
Deck
 Do Not Attempt to Operate Deck Equipment With Which You Are Unfamiliar
 If You Are Not on Shift, Stay Clear of Deck Operations
 Be Aware and Observe Specific Safety Instructions Given By Vessel Captains Or
Designated Supervisors
 Task Specific Safety Meetings to be Arranged BY ANYONE if Required
 Follow Vessel Rules
 Be Considerate of Those Off Shift Trying To Rest –
 Immediately inform AMC Representative Of Any Incidents. AMC Representative
