GUIDELINES ON GIVING OF AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

FOR THE K TO 12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM


(Based on DepEd Order No. 36, s. 2016 and DepEd Order No. 18 s.2021)

The Department of Education recognizes the impact of recognition and awards to learners'
motivation, self-confidence, and determination, especially in a time that is beset with extraordinary
challenges brought about by the health crisis (DO 18 s. 2021).
The following are the awards and recognition given from the Preschool to Senior High
School level.

PRESCHOOL

1. Active Participation Award - Spunky Spirit Award- St. John Bosco Award
2. Cheerfulness Award - Sunshine Award- St. Philip Neri Award
3. Cooperation or Team Player Award - Team Player Award- St. John the Beloved Award
4. Friendliness Award - Friendly Neighbor Award- St. Dominic Savio Award
5. Gentleness Award - Peace Keeper Award- St. Francis de Sales Award
6. Hardworking Award - Busy Bee Award- St. Joseph Award
7. Helpfulness Award - Cheerful Helper Award- St. Teresa of Calcutta Award
8. Honestly Award - Matapat Award- St. Ignatius of Antioch Award
9. Initiative Award - Sparkler Award- St. Charles Borromeo Award

A. Multiple Intelligences Awards

1. NUMBER SMART- St. Hubert Award


These are the pupils who can do Math works easily. They are oriented toward thinking, inductive
and deductive logic, numeration, and abstract patterns. They love to play strategy games and
solve mathematical problems.

2. WORD SMART- St. Jerome Award


These are the pupils who can understand and manipulate words and languages that include
reading, writing, speaking, and other forms of verbal and written communication. This can be
identified through the following activities: word games, recitation, and discussions.

3. BODY SMART- St. Vitus Award


These are the pupils who process information through the sensations they feel in their bodies.
They like to move around and to touch the people they are talking to and they act things out.
They are also good at small and large muscle skills.

They enjoy physical activities like dancing. This can be identified through the following
activities: hands-on activities, squirming and wiggling, and
facial expressions.

4. SCIENCE – NATURE SMART- St. Francis of Assisi Award


These are the pupils who learn best in nature. They thrive in Science lessons and discussions.
They are aware of their natural surroundings. They recognize patterns and colors. They are good
at sorting and classifying. They have keen observational skills and observe patiently. They are
satisfied in learning names of flowers, trees, rocks and minerals, dinosaurs, birds, volcanoes,
cloud formations, and the like.

5. SPATIAL – PICTURE SMART- St. Clare of Assisi Award


These are the pupils who are visual thinkers and are very imaginative. They can easily learn from
visual presentations such as movies, pictures, and videos. They like to draw, paint, or mold their
ideas. They are also good at puzzles.

6. INTERPERSONAL – PEOPLE SMART- St. John Paul II Award


These are the pupils who are friendly and have empathy towards the feelings of others. They
learn through cooperative activities.
7. INTRAPERSONAL – SELF SMART- St. Ignatius of Loyola Award
These are the pupils who work alone. They learn when they are having space, reflecting, or doing
self-paced works.

8. MUSICAL – MUSIC SMART- St. Cecilia Award


These are the pupils who love music. They learn best through singing melodies and rhythms.

NON- GRADUATING STUDENTS (RECOGNITION)

A. Academic Excellence Award


At the end of the school year, the Academic Excellence Award is given to learners who have
attained a general average of at least 90 and no grade lower than 80 in all learning areas.

Academic Excellence Award Requirements

With Highest Honors/ An average of 98-100

(Crown of Sto. Niño Award) At least 90 in Conduct
No sanctions have been imposed for any infractions

With High Honors/ An average of 95-97


May Mataas na Karangalan No academic grade below 85
(Scepter of Sto. Niño Award) At least 85 in conduct
No sanctions have been imposed for any infractions

With Honors/ An average of 90-94


May Karangalan No academic grade below 80
(Globe of Sto. Niño Award) At least 80 in conduct
No sanctions have been imposed for any infractions

B. Subject Excellence Award


It is given to learners who garnered the highest grade in each subject area.

For Grades 1 to 3
Best in Christian Living- St. Thomas Aquinas Award
Best in Mathematics- St. Barbara Award
Best in Science- St. Albert the Great Award
Best in English - St. Gabriel the Archangel Award
Best in Filipino- St. Lorenzo Ruiz Award
Best in Araling Panlipunan- St. Francis Xavier Award
Best in Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH)- St. Cecilia Award
Best in Computer- Bl. Carlo Acutis

For Grades 4 and 5


Best in Christian Living- St. Thomas Aquinas Award

C. Highest Academic Awardee


This award is given to student who garnered the highest general average in the elementary level
and High School Level.

D. Cape of Sto. Niño Award


This award is given to students who qualified for the following requirements:
a. at least 90% in Christian Living;
b. no failing grade in any subject;
c. at least 90 in Conduct;
d. no sanctions have been imposed for any infractions from the Office of the Prefect of
Discipline; and
e. no records of tardiness or absences

E. Special Awards

1. Perfect Attendance
This award is given to students who do not have records of tardiness or absences. Perfect
attendance means that a learner must be present in all of his/her classes, and must have no lates
and absences for the entire school year.

2. Parish Involvement Award- St. Martha Award


This award is given to students who have rendered service to their respective parishes or a
member of the organizations that help promote the evangelical and pastoral missions of the
Church.

6. Conduct Award

This award is given to students who qualified for the following requirements:
a. at least 90 in Conduct;
b. no failing grade in any subject;
c. no sanctions have been imposed for any infractions from the Office of the Prefect of
Discipline
Note: The certificate/ award will be given during the year-end closing program inside the
classroom.

GRADE 6, 10 & 12 LEVEL

A. Academic Excellence Award


At the end of the school year, the Academic Excellence Award is given to learners from who
have attained a general average of at least 90 and no grade lower than 80 in all learning areas.

B. Award for Outstanding Performance in Specific Disciplines.


These awards are given to recognize learners who have exhibited exemplary skills and
achievement in specific disciplines.

1. Award for Outstanding Performance in Athletics


This award is given to learners who have shown outstanding skills in Physical Education.

2. Award for Outstanding Performance in Arts


This award is given to learners who have consistently demonstrated outstanding skills in the arts
and music and above-average creativity and craftsmanship.

3. Award for Outstanding Performance in Communication Arts.


This award is given to learners who have demonstrated proficiency in Filipino and English in
written or in oral communication.

4. Award for Outstanding Performance in Science


This award is given to learners who have high academic standing in Science.

5. Award for Outstanding Performance in Mathematics


This award is given to learners who have high academic standing in Mathematics.

6. Award for Outstanding Performance in Social Sciences


This award is given to learners who have high academic standing in Social Sciences.

7. Award for Outstanding Performance in Technical-Vocational Education


This award is given to learners who have consistently exhibited exemplary skills and
achievement in their area of specialization in Technical-Vocational education, in Technology
and Livelihood Education or TLE and in Computer.

8. Award for Outstanding Performance in Christian Living


The awardee has attained the highest general average in Christian Living. He or she has attained
the highest general average in the Conduct grade and has not received a grade lower than 90%
and has not been under disciplinary action from the school.

C. Sto. Niño Medal Award


This is given to Grade 12 graduating students who are exemplary in simplicity, humility, and
competence. The awardees have taken their Senior High school years at Sto. Niño Catholic
School, is active in school activities, and no sanctions have been imposed for any infractions
from the Office of the Prefect of Discipline.

D. Cape of Sto. Niño Award


This award is given to students who qualified for the following requirements:
a. at least 90% in Christian Living;
b. no failing grade in any subject;
c. at least 90 in Conduct;
d. no sanctions have been imposed for any infractions from the Office of the Prefect of
Discipline; and
e. no records of tardiness or absences
E. Leadership Award
This is given to learners who have demonstrated exemplary skills in motivating others and in
organizing projects that have significantly contributed to the betterment of the school and
community.

F. Award for Research or Innovation


This award is specific to the SHS tracks. Grade 12 graduating students—individuals, pairs, or
groups of not more than four members—must have led the planning and execution of a research
or innovation to advance the potential applications of technology or research whose findings can
be used to drive better efficiency and productivity as well as to improve the lives of the people
in the school and/or community.

G. Award for Work Immersion


This award may be given to grade 12 graduating students who have exemplified outstanding
performance based on the terms of reference or engagement set by the school and evaluation of
the direct supervisor and subject teacher. The awardee(s) must have received a high-efficiency
rating for their diligence and consistency in performing their duties and responsibilities
throughout the immersion program.

H. Outstanding Performance in Specialized Subjects


This is award is given to students who garnered the highest average in specialized subjects per
strand.

F. Special Awards

1. Perfect Attendance
This award is given to students who do not have records of tardiness or absences. Perfect
attendance means that a learner must be present in all of his/her classes, and must have no lates
and absences for the entire school year.

2. Parish Involvement Award


This award is given to students who have rendered service to their respective parishes or a
member of the organizations that help promote the evangelical and pastoral missions of the
Church.

3. Journalist of the Year


The awardee is the editor-in-chief of the school paper.
4. Special Recognition for the Performing Artist
The awardees are talented artists, dancers, painters, musicians who have won contests and have
brought recognition to the school even before this time of the pandemic.

5. Special Recognition for the Sto. Niño Catholic School Athlete


The awardees have won sports competitions that brought honor to the school.

6. Loyalty Award
This award is given to graduating Grade 6 pupils who have studied in Sto. Niño Catholic School
from Kinder up to Grade 6.

7. Fidelity Award
This award is given to graduating Grade 12 students who have studied in Sto. Niño Catholic
School from Kinder or Grade 1 up to Grade 12.

8. Golden Heart Award (Great Giver Award)


This award is given to SNCS families who generously share their time, talents, and treasure to
the school.

This award is given to students who qualified for the following requirements:
a. at least 90 in Conduct;
b. no failing grade in any subject;
c. no sanctions have been imposed for any infractions from the Office of the Prefect of
Discipline
Note: The certificate/ award will be given during the year-end closing program inside the
classroom.

B. When to file and settle protests?


Cases of protest shall be filed by the candidate with his/her parent or guardian to the School
Head within three (3) working days from the announcement and shall be decided on by the school
head or principal, considering the recommendations of the AC within three (3) working days from
filing.
