4. The courses SLO’s are students must demonstrate knowledge of the basic elements of
music, demonstrate knowledge of music literature by relating major works and their
composers to their historical periods as it relates to various cultures, and demonstrate an
understanding of varying musical styles by identifying and/or describing conventions
from different historical periods.
5. The late assignments policy states assignments received after the posted deadlines
(regardless of reason) will automatically receive a 10% reduction in grade, plus an
additional 1% for each calendar day that it is submitted after the fact.
6. The syllabus states partial credit is calculated is as follows: Assignment is 10 Days Late
= Full Credit - 10% - 10% (1% for each day late) = 80% credit awarded providing that all
parts of the assignments are completed as per the assignment guidelines.
7. Plagiarism stated in the syllabus is the use of another person or thing’s ideas, language,
or work and is a serious violation of academic integrity.
8. The discussion topic for week three is elements of Music: Musical Sound and Textures
and week five is Music of the Antiquity.

I, Shiara Desir, have read the course syllabus and I am fully aware of what my expectations for
this course are. I am aware that I will have to abide by this document and will refer to it first if
there are questions about course procedures. I also acknowledge that the syllabus is binding for
the duration of the course for the Summer 2024 term. I also acknowledge that by not completing
this assignment, will constitute in no grades or credit for future assignments submitted.
