 What’s Jolly Phonics?

Jolly Phonics is a synthetic phonics program developed in the

UK. It’s fun and multi-sensory approach has been adopted by
more than 70% of Primary Schools in the UK is is used in
over 100 countries around the world.

Jolly Phonics uses the synthetic phonics method, which

means that the letter sounds are taught first, on their own,
and children are then taught to blend sounds together to say
(‘synthesize’) the word. It is a multi-sensory curriculum
incorporating pictures, gestures and music making the lessons
fun a memorable.

Jolly Phonics is good for native English speakers, speakers

learning English as a foreign language, and for learners with
dyslexia and other learning disabilities. With support for
students, teachers and parents teaching their children at
home, this curriculum is sure to lead to literacy success.

Finger Phonics Books 1-7

One of our favorite teaching materials for
practicing the 42 sounds and letters. Cut-
out letter shapes show children’s fingers
the correct formation, while the actions
help them to remember the correct sound.
Pairs well with Jolly Songs and the stories
used throughout the curriculum.

Jolly Phonics Cards - Set of 4

ジョリーフォニック ス カード
Four sets of flashcards for whole class
use: letter sounds, blending words,
alternative vowel spellings and tricky
words. A total of 300 black and white
cards. Blending words have dots under
the letters to help learners see how
many sounds are represented by
digraphs.

These themed word books help children
practice sounding out and blending once
they’ve learned the letter sounds. An
illustration of each word they read is hiding
under a flap. These books are great for both
practicing reading and building vocabulary.
Each pack contains 12 books.

Jolly Readers
ジョリーリーダーズ: レベル1~4
Interesting storybooks for children who are just
ready to read. Controlled vocabulary enables
them to read the words from their letter sound
knowledge. There are only a few essential tricky
words, and these are shown at the start of each
book. There are 4 levels each with 3 series, Inky
Mouse and Friends, General Fiction and
Nonfiction. Each series pack, in each level, has
six different books.

Jolly Phonics Magnetic Letters

A container of 106 lower case magnetic

letters. Consonants are in red and vowels
are in blue. It includes joined digraphs,
making it easy for children to recognize.
This is great for children who don't yet have
fine motor skills to practice making words by
placing letters side-by-side.
