Waistband:
Using a 3.5mm hook

Row 2 repeat:
- Chain a length that measures 6cm.

- Row 1: Sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and sc in each chain across, turn.

- Row 2: Ch 1, sc BLO in each sJtch across, turn.

- Repeat Row 2 unJl the waistband measures your waist measurement when
stretched out.

- Now, you will join this waistband, by slip sJtching along the band.

- Slip sJtch along the ends, going in the back loops of that last sc row, and on top of
the chains from the other end. When you reach the end of the slip sJtch, chain 1.
- You should now have a “circle” of that waistband:

Building Up from the Waistband:

1. Without cu^ng the yarn, conJnue with a 3.5mm hook.

2. Work a round of hdc sJtches around the waistband, making a border on that sc BLO
band.

3. When you are back to your 1st hdc, join the round with a slip sJtch, chain 1, and turn.

4. Make 4 more rounds of normal hdc sJtches.

Increase row:
5. On the 5th round, increase by placing 2 hdc in the same sJtch every 10th hdc.
- Row 5: chain 1, hdc in next st, hdc in next 9 hdc sts from previous round.
- On the 11th hdc, place 2 hdc sts in that same sJtch.
- 1 hdc in next hdc st a7er that, then 1 hdc in next 9 sts.
- ConJnue like this unJl the end of the round.
It’s okay if your sts don’t add up. Or, if at the end, you only have 2 sts leT aTer your
increase, for example. Most of my work is freestyle and I don’t worry too much about
sts adding up SOMETIMES.

6. Repeat 4 rounds of normal hdc followed by 1 round of increases unJl you reach the
crotch measurement. BUT, if you feel that it is fi^ng well around the waist; without
more increases, then stop increasing and make normal rows.

7. Do not cut off the yarn.

Working on One Leg:

1. At the point of the last slip sJtch:

- In that place of the sl st I made a chain long enough unJl it ALMOST measures
the thigh measurement.
- Making it about 10 cm or a bit smaller than the actual measurement when
you measure around leg hole from the pants. Make sure it fits well when
stretched.

2. Then, count how many total sts you have from the hip part that you just made
(EXCLUDING the chains you made).

3. Find your middle point or half way point. Example: if you have 73 hdc sJtches all
around; middle will be 37th sJtch. Because then on each side you will have even
sJtches; example: 36 sts on each side.

4. So, in that “37th” sJtch, you will make a slip st, to join that chain.
5. A7er that, go around with hdc sts, and hdc in those chains you just made.
You will therefore have extra s9tches now, example, if you chained 10, you will now
have 46 sts for the one side of your leg.

6. When you reach back to that 1st hdc, sl st, chain 1, turn your work and conJnue
making normal rounds of hdc. Here there is no increases, just normal rows.

7. ConJnue with hdc sJtches, slip sJtching, chaining 1 and turning.

- ConJnue like this unJl the length reaches from the waist to below the glutes
measurement.

8. When you are done, do not cut off the yarn.

9. Switch to a 5.5mm hook for the mesh part.

Mesh Sec6on for One Leg:

With a 5.5mm hook

1. Chain 4.

2. Skip 1 sJtch, dc in the next sJtch, ch 1.

3. Repeat the pa5ern of skip 1 sJtch, dc in the next sJtch, and ch 1 around the leg hole.

4. Work in a spiral without slip sJtching at the end of the rounds.

This means that you will not slip s9tch in your first dc s9tch, simply make another dc
right on top of it. And you will not turn your work at the end of the round, simple
work in a spiral.

5. Use a sJtch marker to keep track of your rounds.

Moving it up every 9me you reach back to the 1st dc.

6. ConJnue this mesh pa5ern unJl it reaches your desired full length.

7. Once it has reached your desired length, you will now put 2 dc in each chain 1 space
for 1 row:
- Dc in chain 1 space from previous round.
- Dc again in chain 1 space from previous row.

8. Now, you have reached the end:

- A7er your last dc;
- Make hdc in next st;
- Make sc in next st;
- Make slip st in next st;
- Tie off end and cut off yarn.
Repeat for the Other Leg:
1. Repeat the same steps for the other leg, starJng from where you le7 off.
2. Be sure to make the second leg symmetrical to the first one and that you have the
same amount of sJtches.

For the Jes at the waist band, I just made a long chain that I felt comfortable with, a cut off.
And then I sort of just weaved in along the pants, I tried to make it as even as possible when
weaving in. I then added beads but that is opJonal!

Your pants should now be complete, with both legs worked in a mesh pa5ern. Fasten off and
weave in any loose ends with a tapestry needle. Enjoy your handmade crochet pants!
