Approach to the Lesson:

● Begin by gathering the children in a circle and showing them a picture of a fish. Explain
that today, they will be creating their own fish bones using Q-tips and straws. Introduce
the concept of counting and matching numbers to the correct quantity. Use an engaging
story about fish and their bones to capture their attention.

How the Activity is Made:

● Draw the head and tail of the fish on a piece of paper.

● Draw a straight line connecting the head and tail to represent the body of the fish.
● Cut straws into small pieces and paste them vertically along the line to illustrate the fish
bones.
● Present a number above the fish bone.
● The child identifies the number and counts the corresponding number of Q-tips.
● The child then places each Q-tip through the straws, counting as they go.
