What is a Disaster?
An unexpected tragic event which occurs due to natural
or man-made reasons, affecting the everyday life of
people in a particular area, is called a disaster. For
example, earthquake, flood, road, or rail accident etc.

What is Disaster Management?
The assistance or arrangements made by government
and non-government organizations in an area affected
by disaster, to deal with its antecedence and aftermath, is
called disaster management.

How to Prepare for a Disaster?
Some disasters can be predicted well in time, such
as floods, storms etc. It is wise, in such situations, to
prepare in advance. If necessary, people of the area
affected by the disaster can be evacuated to a safer place.

and do not pay attention to

Challenges after a Disaster
The time after the disaster is equally challenging. Many
people lose their lives in such a situation. Consequently,
rehabilitating the displaced people, villages, and settlements,
and reconstructing destroyed property is not an easy task.
