Welcome to the theatre

For everyone to see!
There's pantomimes for kids, and shows
For older ones like me.

2. There's comedies and tragedies,

And musicals are fun.
I love those shows the best of all!
But note the lovely sun

3. Far in the east, that's Juliet,

the love of Romeo's life.
Two star-crossed lovers end it all:
With poison and a knife

4. Now, look, I see a prisoner,

He's 24601.
Beware of stealing bread or you will
End up like Valjean!

5. And you will be at much a loss

Inside a musical
If you are green, you "wicked" thing!
Time for an interval.

6. Beware, a Phantom now appears

Behind his noted mask,
Will she choose Raoul, will she choose him?
A very daunting task.

7. But what a voice sweet Christine has!

A female opera star!
So beautiful and marvellous,
The opera's best by far!

8. Who knew that shows on Broadway though

Could contain puppetry?
But not the kind of puppets that
Young children ought to see!

9. As well. It's not all smut and jokes!

There's meaningfulness too.
We cannot always win the man
We love so very true.

10. But friends will try their best to give

Our dreams a chance of depth.
And everything is just for now
Except for tax and death.

11. Some shows teach us that dance is life.

 And when our ma says no
Our feet still go! It matters not
About the size we grow.

12. Some shows have Bible teachings in

The form of all-out song.
Topped with a coat of coloured dreams
Worn by a man, wise, strong.

13. But not all shows are musicals

Or Shakespeare's crafted works.
It's not all cats or all burlesque,
'Cause any show can work!

14. It's awesome if you're on the stage,

It's cool to just go see.
In theatre you can be whatever
You wish to be!
