INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF Background of the Study:
THE STUDY / ISSUES i. TheWorld Health Organization stated that an individual’s health
depends on his or her behaviour and lifestyle. (Tamanal & Kim,
2020)
ISSUES:
i. One study conducted in Malaysia recently found that the obesity
rate among Malaysian adults was 50.1%.( Chong et al., 2023)
ii. To provide possible reasons that lead to the poor condition of the
recreation park.
METHODOLOGY (OBSERVATION)
Observation
3.2 DATA COLLECTION (Photos of damaged facilities, dirty and vandalised parks)
PROCEDURE
(AREAS/ITEMS TO BE i.

(Include evidences)

iii.
FINDINGS
i) Based on evidence (i), it can be seen that the recreation park was
poorly maintained and dirty. There was rubbish everywhere and
several areas were covered with wild bushes.
ii) Based on evidence (i) and (ii), the group found exercise facilities,
such as arc ladder, monkey bar, vertical climb and push up bar
were rusty and unstable. These exercising facilities were very
unsafe to be used by the public.
iii) Based on evidence (iii), the toilet facility was very dirty and poorly
maintained. Water supply was not available, additionally the pipes
and toilet bowls have been broken.
ii) Based on evidence (i) and (ii), it can be seen that the exercising
facilities (such as, arc ladder, monkey bar, vertical climb and push
up bar) have rusted and metal frames were partially decayed. The
metal frame deteriorated and it clearly needs to be replaced with a
new one for safety reasons. The equipment was in a state of
disrepair because of excessive usage from the public. The
equipment was poorly maintained mostly because of not enough
fund to replace or repair the exercising facilities at the park.
iii) Based on evidence (iii), it can be seen that the toilet facility
was untended. The facility cannot be used because of vandalism
activities by the general public.
CONCLUSION
General Recommendations:
i. The recreation park needs enough outdoor workout equipment to
motivate the public to exercise more and adapt themselves to
healthy lifestyles. Facilities such as, push up bar, vertical climb, arc
ladder and monkey bar need to be replaced to promote variation in
exercising. Variety of equipment will spark interest from the public
to exercise more and make them regularly visit the facilities to
workout and this behaviour will become a habit and at the end will
generate a healthy community.
ii The community who live nearby can raise funds for replacement
and repairs of exercise facilities at the park. The community can
initiate a campaign to create awareness among visitors to
appreciate the facilities and keep the park clean.
