MONOLOGUE UNIT 5

Topic: Some people say that developed countries should be the driving force to
tackle global issues such as warming and pandemics. What is your
opinion?
Outline:
1. Developed countries PLAY AN ESSENTIAL ROLE IN TACKLING GLOBAL
ISSUES
- Manpower: WELL-QUALIFIED + Financial power:
=> investments in research, experiments, developments and distributions
of solutions to global issues
Eg: USA, RUSSIA: research => developed vaccines, medicines for COVID -
19, with their capability, provided vaccines for undeveloped countries in
Africa or Asia to deal with the uprising spread of the pandemic.
=> With the kindness of such countries like America, global problems will
soon be diminished or even disappeared once and for all
- Investments in infrastructures, facilities necessary for developing
alternative energy
- Developing countries should be pioneers in addressing global problems/
paying more attention to them because they WERE also the main cause of
global problems/ do great damage to the world.
E.g. global warming: Industrialisation in those countries LED to the mass
production and release of carbon emissions & greenhouse gases into the
atmosphere, masses of pollution, which are the factors put down to global
warming more than that in developing countries.

2. DEVELOPING COUNTRIES PLAY AN EQUALLY IMPORTANT ROLE

- Some problems need the collaboration between both developed and
developing countries
Eg: During Covid, vaccinated or not will mean no difference if local people
do not conform to regulations that minimize the transmission of the virus
Eg: In order for global warming to be tackled completely, every nation has
to join hand. If some nations keep on polluting the environment, all the
efforts of developed countries would go to waste.
- Developing countries are going through the same stages of
industrialisation => take actions => reduce effects in the future (learn from
developed countries)
