1 PURPOSE
This document describes the assembly of 78 Series valves.

2 SCOPE
This procedure concerns all 78 Series bodies, not including the pilot.

3 DOCUMENTATION NEEDED
1. Bill of material
2. 09.11 Cleaning procedure
3. I-5-16 Tightening torque instruction
4. 11.00 Test procedure

4 VISUAL INSPECTION
Check the parts condition (impact, scratch), especially on gaskets and sealing surfaces (body, nozzle,
disc, disc holder).

5 GRINDING PROCESS
The nozzle and the disc must be ground prior to assembling the pressure relief valve.

6 TRACEABILITY
Check if the parts numbers match with the production order :
-Item number
-Serial number or purchasing number

7 CLEANING & DEBURRING


78 Series parts are deburred and cleaned, in accordance with the 09.11 procedure.

9 OPERATING MODE

9.1 Seat assembly

1. Insert the body 1, upside down in the vise.

2. Insert the seat gasket 43 inside the body 1.

3. Insert the seat 3 inside the body 1.

4. Put the body gasket 41 around the guide 9.

5. Insert the guide 9 inside the body 1.

6. Position the cover gasket 40 on the guide.

9.2 Piston assembly

1. Screw the disc 11 with its retainer washer 82 by using


the retainer screw 83.

2. Put the piston seal 10 and the two back up rings 7


around the piston 56.

3. Position the guide ring 8 around the piston 56.

4. Grease the piston seal 10.

5. Insert the piston 56 inside the guide 9.

6. Put the spring 46 on the piston 56

9.3 Cover assembly

1. Grease and screw the threaded rods 35 on the body 1.

2. Mount the cover 2 on the body 1, the evacuation hole


must be at the opposite of the outlet flange.

3. Tighten the cover 2 with the nuts 50.

10 SEALING

10.1 Sealing purpose

Our products are sealed to guarantee that they have been manufactured in accordance with our quality system.
Sealing is carried out after the tests, see the 11.00 Test procedure.

10.2 Sealing points

The cover 2 and the body 1


are sealed together
