PROPOSAL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MUSIC SCHOOL AT

ORIS BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.

Executive Summary:
Oris British International School is pleased to introduce the establishment of a Music School,
aiming to provide students with a platform to explore and engage in diverse musical activities.
The proposed Music School aligns seamlessly with our commitment to holistic education,
fostering creativity, teamwork, and personal growth among our students.

Our Objectives:
We collaborate closely with some of our staff students who share a passion for music, enlisting
their support as instructors for the Music School. Their expertise will be invaluable in guiding
the school through its initial stages.
Our Goals and Objectives:
 Cultivate a Love for Music:
To foster a genuine appreciation for various genres of music, allowing students to explore and
embrace diverse musical cultures and performances.
 Skill Development:
To provide opportunities for students to develop and enhance their musical talents, whether in
playing instruments, singing, or music composition.
 Teamwork and Collaboration:
To encourage collaborative efforts through ensemble performances, strengthening interpersonal
skills, and creating a sense of unity among club students.
 Community Engagement:
To extend the influence of the Music Club beyond the school community by actively
participating in local events, and contributing positively to the broader community through
musical performances.
 Personal Growth:
To support the holistic development of students by instilling discipline, perseverance, and
confidence through musical activities.
 Support Emerging Artists:
To create a platform for emerging artists within the Music Club, providing opportunities for
original compositions, songwriting, and solo performances.
 Develop a Music Library:
Establish a music library within the school premises, ensuring access to a diverse range of
musical compositions for educational and recreational purposes.
 Host Music Appreciation Concerts/ Events:
Organize events that celebrate the rich tapestry of global music, fostering an understanding and
appreciation of different cultural musical expressions.
 Plan End-of-Year Showcase:
Working closely with students and other instructors to organize an end-of-year showcase or
concert, celebrating the Music School's achievements. This event, which is facilitated under the
guidance of the Director, will serve as a culmination of the year's efforts and provide a platform
to display talents.
 Days /Time of Music School
- Fridays (after school: 3:30 – 5 pm)
- Saturdays: (Mainstream session: 10 – 12 pm)

 Setting up A Music Studio:


- Select a Suitable Space: choose a room with sufficient space for instruments, equipment,
and a comfortable working environment.
- Consider acoustic properties and sound isolation to minimize external noise.

o Acoustic Treatment:
- Invest in acoustic panels, bass traps, and diffusers to create a controlled and balanced
sound environment.
- Ensure the room's dimensions are optimal for sound quality.

o Essential Equipment:
- Computers: Select powerful computers with sufficient RAM and storage for music
production.
- Audio Interface: Invest in a quality audio interface for connecting instruments and
microphones to the computer.
- Microphones: Choose microphones suitable for recording vocals and various instruments.
- Headphones and Monitors: Acquire studio-quality headphones and monitor speakers for
accurate sound representation.
- MIDI Controller: If producing electronic music, consider a MIDI controller for inputting
musical data.
- Cables and Stands: Purchase high-quality cables and stable stands for instruments and
microphones.
o Instrumentation:
- Provide a variety of instruments, including keyboards, guitars, basses, drums, brasses,
strings, and any other instruments relevant to the curriculum.
- Maintain instruments in good condition and regularly service them.

o Recording Gear:
- Set up a dedicated area for recording with isolation booths or screens.
- Install high-quality microphone stands, pop filters, and shock mounts.

o Storage and Backups:


- Establish a system for storing and organizing project files, instrument libraries, and
software licenses.
- Implement a regular backup routine to prevent data loss.
