EDC Model
Problem/Description:

How do you use the EDC model?

Solution:
The Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC), is an option for Turbulence-Chemistry interaction. This model
accounts for the moderate levels of Turbulence-Chemistry interaction while modeling the reactions using
detailed or step reaction mechanism.

Fine Scale

Based on the assumption described above, EDC model considers the micro scale space volume in which
the combustion reaction occurs. The length scales and the time scales of the fine structures are defined by
the statistics of the turbulence.

Reaction Calculation

Combustion reaction in the micro scale shows the evaluation of the chemical species and the temperature
in the cell from the initial conditions. It is assumed that the constant pressure-enthalpy is implemented. The
progress of the reaction is in accordance with the finite reaction rate (Arrhenius type).

The eddy dissipation model can be used with the global reaction with one or 2 steps reaction mechanism.
Whereas, the EDC model can be considered with a detailed reaction. The phenomenon that depends on
the reaction rate includes the flame of the ignition. It is effective when it comes to the predictive analysis of
the generation of pollutants (NOx, CO, etc.)
