DT Captain Application
For many years I have always had an unfailing passion for building and making things, from starting
out my journey making duplo and lego, then evolving to meccano sets, to this christmas making a
750 piece scorpion metal construction kit. Through my experiences so far, I have had the opportunity
to hone in on my personal attributes and technical skills. From undertaking some of my own projects,
such as drafting and building a predator-proof chicken coop, I have discovered the patience,
persistence and attention to detail needed throughout the entire design process of a product, and I'm
sure these characteristics will serve well as DT Captain.

Because of my enthusiasm towards the subject, I want to share and nurture this feeling with my
fellow peers, which I believe I already portray in our lessons by helping other students whenever they
need it and with whatever they are doing. I am keen to replicate this behaviour with the younger years
at DT Club and provide mentoring for them. Developing my proficiency on software platforms such as
SketchUp and 2D Design, both in lessons and during my free time, has been instrumental in providing
me with a strong foundation and I look to build on this by sharing my knowledge with younger
students, which will not only benefit them but also in my endeavours at university.

Whilst I have developed a solid base in various aspects of Design and Technology, I recognize my need
to further enhance my sketching skills. Improving in this area will allow me to better communicate my
design concepts and contribute more effectively to collaborative projects, and serve me well in my
time at university.

From helping out at other subjects A-Level and GCSE open evenings, I am confident that I can portray
to parents and younger children interested in the subject, that it is well worth their time and they will
come out of the subject a more developed person, by acquiring valuable traits such as diligence,
determination and perseverance.

As an aspiring civil engineer I am hoping that this position will be a springboard for my further studies
and beyond, by equipping me with the quintessential skills of time management, communication and
public speaking, all valuable qualities needed to fully excel as a person.

In conclusion, my passion for Design and Technology, combined with my strong practical and
technical skills, makes me an ideal candidate for this Captaincy position. I am eager to get the
opportunity to now begin to share my knowledge with younger years and I am excited to give back to
the department that commenced my journey in the subject.
