On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at about 6:30 am, many Israelis woke up to sirens
after rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip. Attacks from the Palestinian
militant group Hamas against the south of Israel started a new conflict in the
region. Israel officially declared that it is at war the next day. Hamas said
it launched 5,000 rockets in an initial barrage. Israel’s military said 2,500 rockets
were fired. Hamas fighters crossed from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel and
attacked 22 locations.
On Monday, Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said it would impose a
"complete siege" on the territory.
"No electricity, no food, no water, no gas - it's all closed," he said, adding that "we
are fighting human animals and are acting accordingly."( That’s a decision that
under international law amounts to a war crime.)
It was stated that currently Israel’s army consists of 300,000 reservists, so the
confrontation will obviously last for a long time.

Hamas said that it would start executing Israeli captives if Israel continues to
bomb civilian houses in Gaza without warning.
Over 1,300 people are estimated to have been killed in the first three days of
fighting. According to official figures, these include 800 Israelis and 500
Palestinians.
Meanwhile, The European Union announced on Monday that it was
“immediately” suspending hundreds of millions of euros in aid for Palestinian
authorities.
What about other subjects in the international arena, Iran sent its Islamic
Revolutionary Guard Corps – a branch of Iran’s military, usually known as the
“Revolutionary Guard” – to Lebanon to organize and support Lebanese and
Palestinian militants.
In addition, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman told the
president of Palestina Mahmud Abbas that the Gulf kingdom continued "to stand
by the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights to a decent life, achieve
their hopes and aspirations, and achieve just lasting peace.
