Josephites prepare for the inaugural Retro Dance Competition
Dancers practiced for the upcoming 2024 Retro Dance Competition at the Academy of St. Joseph (ASJ) Gymnasium led by respective Central Board of Student (CBS) Grade Level Representatives, February 15. Before the scheduled practices, each CBS grade level representative randomly picked what theme and decade of their performance will be, resulting in Grade 7 with the 70s, Grade 8 with the 80s decade, Grade 9 with the 60s, and Grade 10 with the 50s theme. With the 2024 ASJ Alumni Homecoming being held on March 1 and 2, chosen representatives from grade levels 7 – 10 take part in the first-ever Retro Dance Competition. In February, Mr. Remar P. Agcaoili MAed, ASJ Principal, created an organized schedule for practices for the performers. Agcaoili said during flag ceremony that he wants quality practices than quantity practices. Therefore, students can still tend to their studies. Azalea Gamueda, grade 8 CBS representative shared her thoughts on the upcoming event. “It is a breath of fresh air. We Josephites have been customed with the annual Ground Demonstration and with this, different ideas and steps can be made” Gamueda stated. But despite that, she later added, “But as I said, we have been stuck with the Ground Demo that we performers and leaders are got used to the same old steps, music and routines”. With the ASJ Homecoming coming closely, students, faculty and families eagerly await what the dancers have in store for the forthcoming event.
